Very good cover corner..............Diminutive obviously, and not a very good tackler. In fact not really very good on the edge in run support at all, but very quick and fluid.
Started playing on offense at the end of the game and he made a difference on an end around among other things. Actually had a TD called back on a hold, but still garnered a 1st down as it was a spot foul. Also returned punts. Fumbled one but got on it and made a nice play on another.

I thought he was a very nice player and will help upgrade your quickness and athleticism a great deal. Obviously PR is going after “playersâ€￾ with speed and athleticism as it seems that is what has been lacking a tick.

On a side note Darius Johnson from Hightower who I think you guys also recruited is a stud. Very fast and catches well.He has a chance to make an immediate impact at SMU starting his 1st year. He even looked bigger than his listed 5-10 which I assume is why he wasn't a 4 star, because he is a stud.

Thanks. I'm kinda figuring he was mainly recruited as a returner (and will need a rs), but we'll see.

Maybe but I think he can play corner. I know he is short, but he guarded Johnson often (even breaking up a TD catch) and Johnson as I said is a STUD! 5-8 is certainly on the short end, but most of the stud NFL corners are sub 6 foot tall.

The only concern being is he really 5-8 and he will need to get bigger/stronger as he was manhandled on the edge while getting blocked.

There is a vast difference between being "sub 6 foot NFL corner"--and being 5'8". Two inches to 5'10 is one thing, another two inches down to 5'8" quite another. And that's if, as you say, he really is 5'8". And, also as you say, at a generous "165" pounds, he needs some muscle.

There may be two or three guys who play corner in the NFL at 5'8", but they're an immense minority.

Am I missing something about a game in late february?

lol.............................no I'm just a college and high school football junkie and have several games from earlier in the season still DVR'd. One of them happened to involve Princeton Jackson from Cypress Ridge against a Florida team early in the season. Another involved Reeves from Allen in the Texas 5A championship.

I concur most are 5-10 to 5-11 and there are several more at 6 foot and a few more up to 6-2! There are even quite a few at 5-9 if memory serves though 5-8 I agree is quite short. He did however appear to have fluid hips and good ball skills.

However, in the B12 you need as many athletic corners as you can get, and there will doubtless be some nickle, dime and even quarter(?) assignments open against shorter receivers.

Very true and on that note don't we all need as many athletic corners as we can get. If I'm not mistaken 2 of the top 5 corners this year are 5-9 guys. It is just so hard to find guys who can run and cover.

Chad

If the guy can cover i will take him in a heart beat. I don't care if he's 5'-2", the thing we need is the ability to be close, narrow those passing windows and make players make perfect plays. And yes when we get in the redzone, he may get picked on, but, if he's breaking up 3 and 10's at their own 20 or 30 then i guess we dont have to worry about that do we??? What we saw far too often last year was a red jersey running behind a wide open receiver...not sure if it was talent or scheme, but our defense looked pathetic in pass coverage - too many holes and too much time!!!!

That's the whole point. 5'7"-5'8" guys have a harder time covering because of a relative lack of height and reach.

Fortunately, as a 14' long jumper, Jeremy doubtless has some hops to help make up for that.

I think we often miss on this thought. Good call and I imagine it is why there are so many 5-9 to 5-11 corners in the NFL when there are so many 6-3 & 6-4 wide outs.

Short guys can never make an impact in college athletics

Signed,

Ellis Hobbs, JJ Moses, Seneca Wallace, Bob Sanders, RB Wagner (who was maybe 5'5)

Thoughts on Jackson? Thanks.
