Will be interesting going against Memphis with his knowledge of our scheme.

I could see where a distraction may be for a coach, unless you’re Bobby Petrino

This is not meant to be a knock on Myer because I'm sure he is a great person, but I'm surprised he was able to land the OL coaching position at a school like Memphis after a not so good run at Iowa State.

Was it a 'who you know' kind of hire or did they actually see something they liked? Just curious.

Despite how it ended, Myer is reasonably well respected in the coaching community. Not here, obviously, but in coaching circles. And if you look at the totality of work - in all honesty, OL play was perhaps never elite but also was decent to above average.

That said, I have zero concerns about him coaching their OL. Whether they rush for 450 yards or -75 - very little will come down to him in the bowl game.

Can they physically block us? If the answer is us, they may win. If they are physically incapable of blocking us - we are in a good position.

Myers impact is felt in that 50-50 or 55-45 type of game where a coach can scheme you back into the game or even the odds or give you a slight advantage.

A coach is extremely limited when the other guys when 8 or 9 times out of 10 they are just going to whip your a**... there's not a lot of technique or scheme you can do in that situatuion.

CMC thought very highly of him as well and if I recall correctly didn't want to lose him after he was a grad student on staff here, so he got the OL position without experience. Whatever qualities those were in keeping him here just didn't translate into a better product on the field. Contrast it with Clanton who has gotten some tangible results in his first season on staff.
