***2023-24 College Football Thread***

Bit of a loss with two of them being 4 star QB’s but the third who started this season is trash that belongs in a G5 program. Hauser might be talked back as he’s not getting a starting job anywhere but levitt hates the new coach from getting passed over in recruitment.

However he was passed over for Oregon States top 100 QB that most believe will be coming with the coach so not a total loss if that plays out. If it doesn’t then gonna have to raid the portal.
Thanks! Helps to have the rest of the story! Just on the surface, it sounded like "Uh-Oh!"

Oregon could beat anyone in the country, including Georgia.

They were part of quite possibly the best game all season (UW loss) and don't **** around.

Simply put it would suck to play them and be a coach trying to prepare for it.

Yeah but they were pretty clearly a top team that deserves a shot, that’s why I’m happy to see the playoff expansion. I mean we saw the championship game and that was slightly more lopsided then OSU missing a FG as time expired to lose. Michigan has built itself to beat OSU, they are not capable of beating georgia, OSU isn’t good this year and 100% doesn’t deserve a spot but last year I thought they did.
This is where I am at.

A lot of people say increasing the size is stupid because only a couple teams can actually win it.

But the increase helps when there is a team that has a weird loss or fluke loss, and at 4 teams they get left out because of it. Even though they could easily be in and win it, if not for a strange loss, that maybe someone was hurt, half the team had food poisoning or some other weird thing.

With 12 that team has a better shot at getting in and should have the chance. With only 4 we can see this year its possible even someone that is undefeated could be left out.

I agree with this but not having your starting QB is huge. I don’t think they would leave them out but it’s going to be talked about. I also don’t know if they can with their last game without him anyways.
Two backup QBs have won the title. Cardale Jones and Tua, so yes Florida State isn’t the same team without their QB. But we’ve seen it before and I don’t think they would win it even without the QB injury.

If they win this weekend at least they will have shown with the backup they can win games as their roster is still very good. A road game against your rival and a neutral win over a good Louisville team is at least showing they can still play.

Problem is that FSU isn’t bama and OSU with stable of elite QB’s waiting to be promoted. They are FSU where just two years ago making a bowl game was a big accomplishment. Rivalry games are one thing but this Florida team is hot trash

No one can beat Georgia this year and this is one of those worst teams
Disagree. Auburn, Mizzou, GT all were within one score. Everyone was saying last year that nobody could hang with Georgia and tOSU dominated them most of their game and only lost by missing a FG.

Last I checked only losing by one score is still losing

Not saying they are the same but there’s precedent of backups winning the title, so the CFP committee would have some real explaining to do aside from the whole leaving an unbeaten P5 team out for a one-loss team. Their reasoning wouldn’t hold much water. And Florida State was going to get killed by Georgia or Michigan with or without their QB.

And disagree on the rivalry thing. A road rivalry game you toss everything out. I mean we all just watched Bama escape with a miracle at Auburn, who is God awful and got the brakes beat off them by New Mexico State just the other week.

Georgia Tech played Georgia better than almost anyone this year.

Who would you put as the top teams right now?

I will list mine,

1. Georgia (defending champs, champs until you lose)

2. Texas, they are improving every week and don't have much for weaknesses.

3. Michigan, (haven't seen them much, but I believe they are better than number 4)

4. Washington, undefeated, but I wasn't highly impressed in the little I saw.

5. FSU, they are undefeated so I have to put them here, I have not seen them at all, so this is a placing by record.

Listed 5 incase one slips, the 5th would get in.
IMO, Oregon has a great shot to beat Washington. Based on games I've watched, the Ducks are the best 1 loss team. And at this stage in the season, probably better than FSU due to Travis injury.

It is, but I think you're puffing Georgia up a little much. Auburn is pretty mediocre. Not sure if you've watched Oregon, but IMO they've been impressive as hell. We'll see.
I’ll happily wager a donation to the we will collective taking Georgia to win it all.

Yeah sorry I don't wager message board posters, lol. I'm not saying Georgia won't win it all, obviously they're the favorite. I just think it's kind of nonsensical to dismiss the idea that anyone else could beat them. They were just as big a favorite last year and had to be gifted a missed FG to win in the semis.

Valid. OSU was custom built to beat Georgia or bama though, Michigan would have gotten rocked and TCU did get rocked. None of the teams this year have that elite quality on offense but Oregon would have the best shot

Yeah agree on Michigan, just not a good style matchup for them, but I think Oregon could give Georgia fits.
