F*CK IOWA

I would say ISU, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Illinois, and Northwestern are all pretty close in terms of best win this year.
Murderers row. Still shocked that this is the list of best wins for a team in the B10 championship game. Sheesh, enjoy it while it lasts

Well you saying it would probably be entire defense of that statement. One of those teams has beaten a top 25 team,The others haven’t. One has been competitive with a highly ranked team, the others haven’t. It is almost as if evidence and results implies one team is better than than the others listed. But if you say so….

I asked one of my Hawk fan friends what Iowa’s best win is. I could tell he hadn’t given it a bit of thought by the look on his face. I said “it’s ISU isn’t it?” Again the look on his face was absolutely priceless as he tried to absorb that information and explain away in his head how it couldn’t possibly be. Then of course he said “at Wisconsin”. I just said “I don’t know about that man” and laughed. Pretty sure I ruined his day.

Well, if you read the link from @JVAR, you would see Iowa is 1-1 vs top 30 teams, with the lone win over ISU. And even funnier, ISU is now rated higher than Iowa in this model since Iowa State's SOS is 14 while Iowa's is 60.

So you think wins over teams ranked in the 50-60 range should be included in your "best wins" of the year? That's pretty pathetic if you ask me

What's the most pathetic is the level of QB play that they've gotten to play against. Just awful.

Which kind of discredits those computer rankings. I understand that Iowa's SOS is pretty bad this year, but they also did beat ISU on their homefield, and have a three game lead at the moment in wins and losses.

A three game lead in record means absolutely nothing when your wins are over teams ranked #101, #26 (you're welcome), #114, #73, #69, #40, #60, #51, #56 with a loss vs #61. And that loss vs #61 happened to be on your homefield. So if you think winning on the road is significant, I guess Minnesota should be considered to be just as good or better than Iowa. After all, MN did beat Iowa in Kinnick

I would agree with the Minnesota point if they had an equal or better record than Iowa does.

LOL.... yeah... I guess we can simply look at just the record and not consider the strength of the wins. Do you really want to know why this reputable ranking has ISU higher than Iowa even though Iowa won head to head (on the road) and has 3 more wins than ISU? It's because Iowa's schedule is that bad.

I'm glad Iowa found a late TD to beat lowly Illinois at home, who is ranked #56. Or getting a late FG to beat NW, ranked #60... both of whom you claimed were on your list of best wins of the year. Quite impressive indeed

The Hawks can only play the schedule they're given. And SCOREBOARD!!!

Good thing for you is that it all changes next year, you'll get your much softer SoS and we'll get a much tougher one.

Yep. I'll be looking forward to Iowa fans complaints about playing a real schedule. It amazes me how two teams in the same conference only played each other twice in a 10 year span.

I'm sure some will. I'm looking forward to it, fully knowing we'll probably win 6, maybe 7 at most. Still, I'm going to like watching those matchups w bluebloods every year, only way to get better.

Hawks will lose to Nebby. Understandable though, can’t show anything before the Big 10 champ game.

Thanksgiving snuck up me this year. Like clockwork this is about the time ISU wants to play Iowa in rematch or even better, just declare victory outright in the hypothetical matchup.
For many reasons, I’ve had this conversation with ISU fans this week and would never want to play Iowa in a bowl game.

Yes playing a minimum of two marquee/blue blood programs will be nice. Getting away from the West stigma will good. While it’s never been great, the last 3 years will leave an indelible impression.
