He wasn't well liked by the staff when he was in Ames.
So what was it that the staff didn't like about him?

Would you be able to elaborate? I've seen people on here say the same things, but not really elaborating on what he's done that makes him incompetent.
The next president at ISU will most likely hire the new AD. Wintersteen's contract expires in 2026, and she will be 70. I can't imagine she will stay on any longer than that.Calli Sanders if it’s in house, otherwise something like a MAC AD or an associate AD from a Big 10 school.
MBB was 14-18 last year and 9-11 in MVC play. They were 8th.Important hire for UNI in terms of football and men's basketball.
This person probably has to replace Farley (assuming he retires in the next ~5 years).
Ben Jacobson's contract runs through the 2028-29 season, so going to have to do something in the next few years. Either extend him or would they consider moving on from him?
They just won the regular season last year but no NCAA tournament since 2016.
Oh right, 2 years ago. 2021-2022 season they won the regular season.MBB was 14-18 last year and 9-11 in MVC play. They were 8th.

2022-23 Men's Basketball Schedule - UNI Athletics
The official 2022-23 Men's Basketball schedule for the University of Northern Iowa Panthersunipanthers.com
Bad communicator. Non-communicator. Out of touch with reality. Not dealing with the big issues, or any major issue. It’s a giant mess at UNI and most of the state has no idea and he’s done nothing to try and fix it.@1UNI2ISU has laid out some specifics in the past from the UNI point of view. I’m waiting for him to chime in
Genuinely curious what some of the big/major issues are at UNI.Bad communicator. Non-communicator. Out of touch with reality. Not dealing with the big issues, or any major issue. It’s a giant mess at UNI and most of the state has no idea and he’s done nothing to try and fix it.
Even if you disagree with Jamie, you usually know where you stand. This guy is a like a fart in the wind.
They are building a new wrestling facility and tearing down the West Gym. Otherwise, I don't know of any other facility changes. There's some big challenges right now with the UNI job. I'm not aware of anything Harris has done to deal with them. That's a pretty big red flag if you are looking for someone like JP.
Tulane seems like they're getting some good work in the past few years but really they missed a huge opportunity if they had built some success about 5-10 years ago.
I think USF and maybe Tulane were the "could have been/should have been" stories with UCF being the example of actually making it happen.
In terms of just pure football potential I'd think second fiddle in Louisiana/New Orleans is comparable to fourth fiddle in Florida/Orlando. At least in the ballpark.
You're talking about a school with less than 9,000 undergrads vs schools with over 50,000 students. A better comparison is SMU.
It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Currently, I think you'd say Tulane is a cut above SMU academically. The rich donors buying SMU's way into the ACC doesn't help with the rich kid who couldn't get into more prestigious schools stereotype. Maybe SMU sees their reputation rise but as of right now I think I'd still rather have a Tulane diploma.
Genuinely curious what some of the big/major issues are at UNI.
There hasn't been much/any coaching turnover since he's been there. Unless fans wanted him to make a change somewhere and he didn't.
Last year they announced a plan to renovate the Dome. Likely long overdue, but that's not Harris's fault.
Mcleod Center is almost 20 years old and probably could use some renovations, but probably not a lot they can do for a while, especially while trying to raise money for the Dome project.
If he's a poor communicator then that probably translates to poor fundraiser as well, which wouldn't work at a place like UNI.
I'm not arguing, I have no info on the UNI athletics department, just curious if the issues are anything more than not having enough money to go around.
Not sure how common that is for FCS schools. I’m assuming not very.Hopefully the next AD can get their athletic department to be self sufficient finally instead of having Iowans foot a part of their athletic budget.
That will never happen at UNI. Where will they come up with at least 8 million dollars a year to cover their funds from the university?Hopefully the next AD can get their athletic department to be self sufficient finally instead of having Iowans foot a part of their athletic budget.
