*** Official Grambling State vs IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

I know, "consider the competition," but it's interesting.

ISU scored 92 today, the combined total scoring of the past two opponents, and one more than the first two opponents combined.

We play some (or lots) of these teams every year and it's been a long time since we didn't have offensive struggles for periods even in these tuneup games. Looking at all of them together there is something to be taken from it comparing it to past seasons.

Trying to decide what tattoo I should get to commemorate the 2023-24 national championship.

This orlando tourney is going to be really fun to watch to see how we do against “actual” competition. Does anyone know the brackets yet? Will we get A&M or FAU?

don't worry about it cause there is a team in the eastern side of the state who are being proclaimed national chaps in both men and women bb. just read the dm rag and listen to channel 8 . lol

I had to watch the game delayed a bit. Another huge win over a low major. Nice to see T-Lew in the lineup for Grambling; I knew that he had had a series of injuries and had forgotten that he ended up there. As a freshman, he was leaner and quicker but that's to be expected with 2 knee operations.

I, too, am looking forward to see what these seeming upgrades in talent mean vs. better competition in Orlando. A few thoughts:

* Awesome to see Omaha feeling more at ease. Some of his finishes impressed me as well as that Euro-step. It doesn't seem like he'll be able to put the ball on the deck a lot vs. B12 competion; I hope I'm wrong. I'd love to see a catch-and-shoot mid-range game from him so teams would have to guard him tighter. I've been watching to see if he ever is the lone big - playing what seems like the 5 - but I haven't noticed it yet. I thought maybe with Hason out and the level of competition, we might see something like Omaha and Milan as the 5 and 4 on D but he's usually paired with Tre or BRE. TJ knows best but I'll keep looking for it.

* Curtis Jones had to good of a resume to continue to look so inefficient. He seemed calm and confident on the ball and is going to be a "microwave" coming off the bench. Those 3 guards are are best threesome out there since Monte-Naz-Matt.

* Paveletzke may have been a bit "recruited-over" this year but we could've used him last year. The way teams packed it in vs. Lipsey and with Grill's inconsistencies (and removal), he would've gotten PT. With Lipsey now draining 3s and the other 2 transfer guards, he may be a glorified insurance policy this year. But he can ball some.

* Momcilovic finally beat someone off the dribble to finish at the rim and it was the stellar defense of Terence Lewis that allowed it. I noticed he couldn't finish against T-Lew in the paint when he couldn't dial up his Dirk turnaround (I thought he'd go with a jump hook). His positional defense is further along than I expected. I'm still watching him to see how much space he gets to operate vs. high majors and whether he can keep his guy in front of him. His court awareness is great; he plays under control and what a shooter.

Thoughts of a bored guy at an airport ....
