*** Official #7 Texas (SAMSUBA) vs IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Texas does have a lot of weapons on O. I didn't realize Whittington was still on their team until that final drive of the first half.

Good half. Just need to figure out how to move the ball a bit better

Defensive line probably played thei4 best half of the season. Offensive line has been as poor as expected bur we are severely outmatched there. Receivers have played well, especially Higgins. Rocco has been pretty good considering the line, Texas' line, and some of the play calling.

Much better than I expected. The line has played well and Heacock has brought more pressure than he has since the UNI game. Scheelhaase needs to consistently roll Rocco out and stick with the quick hitters. We shouldn't even attempt to run the ball as there hasn't been anything there all game.

0.5 yards per rush is really good
Honestly I'm not surprised. As was said many times during the week, IMO, Texas has the best DL in the country. So you're going to need to do outside the box thinking. And we're not... doing much outside the box thinking. Hence 3 points.

Our last 2 Big home games? 6 points offensively in the 1st half.

We've given up 6 points
Are winning the turnover battle
Giving up 2.5 yards per rush - pretty good
Have 4 sacks, 5 tackles for loss, 3 passes broken up and ....

we're losing.

The defense has not been perfect. But can we please stop pretending like the offense is in any way more exciting or better? There are exciting players , yes, but the two things are not the same

Incredibly impressed with the gameplan defensively. Special teams - the bad snap sucks but that's a long FG so its not exactly a done deal.

Offensively... the defense will probably break at some point if we don't do something. Texas is too good for the defense to be out there by itself

It has on one side (our offensive line) but not the other. D line has been outstanding.
Yes and no. While the OL has not been good - why we're trying to run at someone who is about as big as a pick up truck and moves really well - well, I'll just say it doesn't make a ton of sense.

If I saw someone who looked like Sweat at Defensive tackle - no matter how much faith I might have in my OL - I'm not running a bunch of inside based run plays

I think we get a takeaway in the second half. D is hungry.
