No free pull out for them?
Well, seeings how the vehicle was on its side, and in the triangle ditch of a curved corner (black top curve but still the gravel squared corner), it was going to be difficult. Saw a pickup that crashed there just a few weeks ago. I drive that curve 10-20 times each week and haven't seen as many crashes as I have this month.

Was there frost this morning?

Yeah, had to scrape the windows before I left. Had an alarm call and the guy the company hires, always "forgets" his phone somewhere so I have to handle the night stuff that he is paid to do. So I got to go up and take care of that.

Read an article that was about how rural areas have seen a slight uptick in population growth. They included at the end that rural residents make less than urban residents. Well, no shite sherlock. Lets also mention that cost of living is quite a bit cheaper so you have to look at more than just your nominal wage.

According to another thread, you're not supposed to stop. You're supposed to drive by & call 911...
This may sound weird, but after realizing the guy was okay, I did get a small chuckle out of it. Its on its side in a ditch, and the dude turned on his hazard flashers. Like someone else might say, hey be careful when you go in the ditch and don't hit that vehicle.

If you ditch your car and someone stops to check on you, don’t be a jerk to them.
Quite a few years ago were following someone who went off a ramp into the large grassy area between ramps. For anyone who knows the area it is the ramp from northbound 252 to westbound 610 here in the NW suburbs. It was somewhat snowy. We stopped and I told Mrs. Velo to call 911 while I got out of the car to traipse down the couple hundred feet into the "ditch" to check on them. They said they were okay but, DON'T CALL THE POLICE! I said too late, my wife already has. They panicked and managed to drive their car out of the ditch back onto the road. I found it curious so I followed them to the next exit while we were still on the phone with 911. I directed the cops to the parking lot they ended up in. I don't know if they had been drinking or if they were driving without a license or insurance but that was too strange of a response that I couldn't just let it go. Never did hear what the issue was, but I didn't hear about a body found in the trunk of a car.

About 20 years ago during the early parts of a bad storm I had to go collect Lew from the side of the road and drive him to work on the north side of Des Moines after his car broke down. Then I had to get back on the interstate and head north to ISU to my own job. Black ice everywhere, snow collecting on top of older snow in the median. There were only 2 Ankeny on ramps back then, and I got onto 35 going about 45 mph, I was in Baby, my 280ZX. She was RWD and low to the ground. An SUV went blasting past me at full speed (too fast for the conditions) and Baby's rear end drafted behind it. I entered the median moving northbound, but facing southbound. I was ramping up toward the southbound lanes and the rush hour traffic, but fortunatly Baby turned sideways and enough snow piled up against my door to stop me. I was fortunate that a kind lady managed to pull over and come help me dig myself out of the car. I wasn't able to get a tow for Baby for five days (tow ban for three days, and they had to winch her out so that was a delay also). I found out later on the news that I was one of the first few cars out of nearly 100 in a short stretch between the two Ankeny on ramps. Cars were going off the road and landing on other cars. It was a huge mess. I got a ton of calls from our kids and friends who recognized Baby in the median and were worried about me.
TL ; DR
Lowslung RWD cars are not compatible with black ice.

The car is gone when I went by a little bit ago.

Might have to do a one mile test run tomorrow. There's a Turkey Day family run where I am visiting family and am wondering if I tried to run with 6 year old grandniece in the family run whether (1) I could even do it (2) could keep up with her (3) won't die. Niece mom would be racing the 5k.
