Start watching the wrestling team!!!

How would one watch the wrestlers? I used to watch more, but with PBS not showing the Iowa meet anymore and all the TV contracts, I’m not even sure where or when they’d be on.

CyHawk dual is on ESPN this year. Quite a few duals should be on ESPN+ as well.

I started following ISU wrestling several years ago. Wish I understood more of the intricacies about it... but I really enjoy it a lot! Wish I could watch more of it though. Not interested in paying for subscriptions to watch it.

The schedule has the links for viewing. Unfortunately, most require sub's. I sign on to ESPN+ and Rofkin at start of season (now) and unsubscribe in March.

As mentioned, dual with Iowa will be on ESPN. The NCAA tournament in March will be there too.

Besides from the action on the mat, the storylines with this ISU wrestling team/season are better than any other Cyclone sport.

Good thing the Iowa dual is on ESPN. But honestly having ESPN+ for basketball and wrestling is worth it for me.

Newcomers this year will be in for a treat. There’s David, obviously. And then Yonger. But there’s some up and coming hammers in this lineup that are going to be really fun to watch.

By intricacies do you mean technique or rules or strategy or stories behind the athletes? I’m sure some here are willing to help you better understand things

Such as? Serious question.
Roster battles at 125, 133, 141, 149, and 157. Twins who came to Iowa from Louisiana and flipped from Columbia to ISU at 133/141. Transfer from Virginia battling at 133. Returning NCAA qualifiers currently back ups at 141 and 149. Two Cuban wrestlers at 149/heavyweight. A pound for pound #1 recruit that was at Iowa taking a gap year and coaches snagged him and he ended up in Ames overnight. He is competing at 157. An all-time great in David Carr at 165 and his final season. He has a rival in Missouri wrestler who beat him in the finals last year, David won during the season and at Big 12 championships. The Missouri kid is a 2 time Champ now. A big time transfer at 184. The Cuban at heavyweight is an absolute blast to watch - athletic and strong.

Pound for pound David is ranked 3 and O’toole the Missouri kid is number 2 out of all weights and wrestlers. Casey swiderski at 149 was a top 3 pound for pound recruit that didn’t place as a true freshman last year and up from 141 to 149 trying to get back into the line up. He lost to Cuban kid at wrestle offs a couple weeks ago
