In Minnesota the DOT shows the total number of each type of personalized/specialityplates. For example, there are about 2,800 U of MN plates in the state. I would bet there are 2,800 ISU/UI plates in Polk County alone but I cannot find this info anywhere.

Does anyone have a list that shows this information?

I feel like I have seen complete data but after a 15-minute search, I'm tapping out. I did find the following. First year a plate is issued, the university gets $25 and each renewal is $5.

In 2014, ISU received $105,950, which is used for general scholarships. 1755 were new plates (that's $43,875). The remainder was renewals 62075/5 = 12,415 more plates. So 14,170 a decade ago.

I see quite a few ISU plates down here, of course more EIU plates, but there are a lot of ISU plates on vehicles. We have them on both of our vehicles.

I would get one, but I would rather have the colors reversed. Cardinal plate with gold writing. There is a small or private college that has that scheme though.

So I have the blackout plates. It is obvious to me that they made the regular plate as ugly as possible so people pay for special plates.

Edit: pretty sure all of these would look better with the colors reversed.

There was a Facebook poll. Somehow the worst option won.

It's amazing how many more specialized iowa plates I see since they made the switch.

Even when I only needed random plates for a few weeks while waiting for my personalized plates, I refused to put that horribleness on.

This is what our standard plate should be, or something like it. Not that horrible baby blue and neon green monstrosity. But of course they make you pay extra for this.

I got 1 ISU one, and will get one for my other car soon, just cant decide on what I want. Most of the ones I wanted are available. Just have to pull the trigger when I decide.
