It’s already pitch black when I drive my kids to school. DST does zero for the morning commute. It’s a waste of sunshine. For those that are in favor of staying in DST year round, a popular concern I hear A LOT is kids getting to school. It would be pitch black when the bus stops at kids house and kids driving to school in the dark. No idea how big of a deal this would be but it's the biggest concern I hear
Ya have that kind of Alaska feel to it. LolGive me permanent dst. I can turn a light on in the morning in the winter. Long day light in the summer.
Where?Meh, I reside in the Central Time Zone but sort live something more like the Alaska Time Zone compared to most regional peeps. I'm already at least three hours out of sync so another hour plus or minus is sorta nothing to me.
Get up in the morningChicago - Sunset Today: 4:40 pm
**** all of this.
Chicago is most beautiful when you can't see it.Chicago - Sunset Today: 4:40 pm
**** all of this.
But look on the bright side, the sun will be up in the morning before my alarm clock goes off!Already dark at 5:30. Hate it.
The experiment was addressed earlier in the thread.Awful lot of complaining about something we’ve literally been doing as long as we’ve been alive. I’ll also remind those who weren’t around in the 1970s that we tried year-round DST, even passed a law to do it for two years …but that first winter was so dark in the mornings that everybody hated it and the country ended that experiment early after only one year.
What about the kids that walk to school? It’s already pitch black when I drive my kids to school. DST does zero for the morning commute. It’s a waste of sunshine.
Yeah @alarson I know the Earth's seasonal cycle is dumb, but unless you want to move south to near the equator, where it has about 12 hours per day of daylight year round, you will have to deal with it.Hey people.....There is only about 9 hours of daylight today. In June there is over 15 hours of daylight. Its not the clock you hate, it is the seasonal cycle of the earth.
Yeah @alarson I know the Earth's seasonal cycle is dumb, but unless you want to move south to near the equator, where it has about 12 hours per day of daylight year round, you will have to deal with it.
But then if you move there you still will have to deal with about 12 hours of daylight in the summer instead of 15 you get here.
Im sure you have stayed up more than an hour past your normal bedtime in the last month and didnt ***** about it. But an hour time change twice a month is the end of the world.
LOL, straw man.You seem to lack reading comprehension as to people's actual problem with not being on DST, and instead resorted to a straw man no one was arguing against.
I'm remembering why you used to live on my ignore list.
LOL, straw man.
People are complaining about an hour, because they cant figure out there are literally 6 hours less daylight in the winter than in the summer.
I dont want my kids going to school in the dark, I dont want them going or coming in the dark. Is that too much to ask. Or because someone elses kids have to then all of them should argument work.
lol. Now I definitely remember why I had you on ignore. You're the one talking down to people as if they don't understand the scientific realities.I get it you dont have kids, I get it you dont care, I get it you want to have time to go outside and do things after work, in JANUARY. I get it because it is good for you, it should be great for everyone else. I get you think you are the smartest person on this site. But hey maybe in a few years when your balls drop you will learn a few things.
