I personally don't see what the big deal is. Yeah, it's the first ESPN Primetime game since 1984, but ESPN requires cable/satellite/streaming.
Just like how people claim that MNF is the biggest NFL game of the week, it has required the above since 2006.
Being on the ABC Primetime Saturday slot, or NBC SNF is a much bigger deal as EVERYONE (meaning the entire country) can see it OTA.
I don't have cable/satellite, and while I have the ability/funds to subscribe to Sling every Autumn for football/NBA season, not everyone does (Norwalk, despite blowing up, is still pretty rural for cellular service, and I use my phone as a hotspot for when I need Internet to save money, as it is included in my bill).
I will never forget when Iowa State beat Oklahoma and Spencer Rattler in Ames a couple years ago, and that was in the ABC Primetime slot (technically ESPN) THE SLOT you want, but it got absolutely NO hype at all (unlike Clemson/Florida State, or a Big 10 matchup for example).
MNF and Saturday Night just aren't what they used to be.
