Uggghhhh...... just announced The Marvels review embargo isn't until the day before release, which is NOT a good sign as to the movies quality
The movie looks like a green screen train wreck. That worked in 1997, Not now

That article was a good read that sounds fairly accurate
I’m going to say that it’s plausible, but some of the panic points may never come to pass.

Especially with the writer’s strike, they have time to see how Majors’ trial turns out—everything may be fine.

And the hand waving about The Marvels may turn out to be just that. I will ALWAYS remember how Ghost Busters was universally panned. Every single source said it was going to be awful. I particularly recall how critic even said that Bill Murray made a huge career mistake, right on the heels of Stripes.

Tell me, which one of those two movies is more famous?

The only problem is that the first Captain Marvel wasn’t that good, and Brie Larson apparently hates this stuff. If The Marvels was good at all I’d be shocked.

That said I always thought it would be hard to follow up endgame, but I really think they’ve messed this whole thing up. I’m just having a hard time caring about any marvel property right now.

I like Loki but I still haven’t even watch the episode from last week even when I’ve had time. It just doesn’t hold my attention the way they used to.

“Wasn’t that good”? I’ve watched that movie as often as I’ve watched “No Way Home”—which is even more than I’ve watched End Game.

You are absolutely on an island when it comes to Captain Marvel. I’m glad you enjoyed it, but I’d go so far as to say your position there puts you in the extreme minority when it comes to Marvel fans.

Loki season 2 episode 5… out of context spoilers (maybe) but I half expected the Doctor Who theme to start playing and a TARDIS to come vworping in near the end of that episode. Would have been the perfect time but an awful narrative decision. :p

Also got some serious Infinity War vibes from that episode. Another solid entry. I can’t believe the finale is next week already, I want more of this series.

Put me in the minority, then. I haven’t watched Captain Marvel more than twice but both times I enjoyed it, too. Not top tier Marvel but it’s not any worse than some of the Phase 4 movies.

I enjoyed Captain Marvel too. But to be watching it more than Endgame? That's some several standard deviations away from the norm stuff. I'd say Captain Marvel is probably better than everything after Endgame maybe except GoTG3. And that's the problem.

Last night's episode of Loki was decent enough I guess, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that I was borderline nodding off a couple times throughout, and I haven't had that feeling on any other episodes so far. Its no doubt an episode of building a lot of stuff while not revealing really anything. Probably just setting up the finale.

Phase 4 has sucked except for spider man and Shang chi. All the other movies have been way too convoluted. They needed to lower the stakes after endgame but instead they keep raising them. I won’t be watching another piece of marvel content until the next spider man or Shang chi tbh

Seems a little sensationalist and I'm already hearing of conflicting accounts to some of the statements made around the Marvels. The hot thing to do these days is to rag on marvel, justified or unjustified.

The movies are still raking in boatloads of money when they come out. They suffered a bit from oversaturation with tv shows, but I'm OK with that. they were clearly trying to diversify their audience. some titles stuck and others didn't. I have a hard time believing they are in some kind of dire straights and need to refocus every single thing being produced. Yes, Jonathan Majors is a trouble spot and we'll see how that plays out.

I'd be lying if I said I was even remotely looking forward to this or that I thought this would be any good at all, which is pretty sad for someone like myself to say who looks forward to nearly everything. Ultimately, this is a series nobody is asking for, based on a poorly written and acted character from a series which wasn't very good (Hawkeye). As much as I hate to come down hard on her acting, her role in Hawkeye was her very first acting gig ever, which is a tough task. The disconnect with her acting isn't just coming from her being a deaf character either, because Makkari in The Eternals was deaf as well, and I thought she was really good. It helped her character was written a bit better as well. Not to mention there is a fair amount of chatter going around from behind the scenes that this show is quite bad. I do find it interesting they are going with a TV-MA rating, which I do like for anything tangential to Daredevil.

I'd be lying if I didn't say I am a bit shocked. Feige has been pretty consistent in saying Deadpool would be the only "R" rated MCU fare we should expect to see, but then all in a week's time Echo comes out rated TV-MA and Blade is gonna be "R". Could be the studio's attempt to reinvigorate things I guess. I still think Echo turns out to be a TV-MA mess is all and it won't be due to its rating. I guess it could surprise me.

First Reactions to The Marvels are coming out. The common theme I am seeing is that everyone, regardless if they liked the movie or not, has said Iman Vellani is the stand-out, which I think is a "win" for Marvel. I thought Ms Marvel was a good TV show, but I had concerns with how her character, specifically her powers, would look on the big screen.

Box office tracking for The Marvels is...really really bad. A few weeks ago projections were $80 for opening weekend which isn't very good at all for a Marvel Movie. Now projections are low $50M for the weekend which if it happens would be the lowest opening for any Marvel movie in history. And the budget is somehow $274M. Gulp...
