Michigan State Coaching Search

I listened to the Williams and Miller podcast & Miller said he was told by a source that is close to the KSU coaching staff that Klieman is NOT in the coaching profession for the long haul & 2030 (when his current contract is done) could be his last year. That said, I would be all in favor of Klieman leaving K-State earlier than 2030!

The source may believe that. Kleiman may actually believe that, too. But a Brinks truck with $100mm sitting in your driveway might cause even the strongest-willed to reconsider.

Yeah but he struggles with recruiting, Elko is a decade younger and jumped dukes recruiting 30 spots in his time. You can be a great X’s and O’s coach but if you don’t recruit your ceiling is going to be extremely limited and your seasons are going to vary wildly.

Yep, they could get Leipold for a fraction of that cost. Or Klieman, take your pick.
Everything I have seen, Klieman has his dream job. Midwest, and the AD is his best bud. Similar situation to CMC here with JP.

Those two will be around a long time unless they lose the plot. Which is a bummer because Klieman appears to be a real good coach.

I guess if they want to give Klieman 100m have at it. Horrible decision though, he's not that good. Would be a very Sparty type of decision though so right on brand. Just wait till the throw 100m at sone d bag like Calipari when Izzo is done.

I would take a look at Jon Gruden or Mack Brown. If they are offering half that much, they should be able to get a proven coach to navigate them back to respectability and a winning record.

Not looking forward to playing against Kleiman for the next few years but IMO he would be crazy to take the MSU job. If you look at the new Big XII, K- State, along with Utah and hopefully us will have a chance to establish themselves as top dogs.

If he goes to the new Big 10 he takes over a bottom feeder and has to rebuild in the middle of Michigan, tOSU, and Penn State country. As well as bucking up against USC, Oregon, and Washington on a regular basis. That is a tough gig even if you do get Rutgers, Indiana, and Iowa on your schedule on a regular basis. ;)

I'm reasonably certain Gruden's not going to coach college. He's not been in the college game in 30 years, and even when he was, it was as a position coach. Hard to see any power 4 team handing him the reins.

How is MSU's NIL situation? Is it better or worse than KSU's?

Everything non men’s basketball related is in serious flux with the football situation the last two years. It went from being in a really good place to being really bad. I also really don’t want KSU or KU’s coach so don’t really care about kielman

How is coaching until 2030 not in it for the long haul? Dude's been coaching college football since the mid 90s.

As a coach, do you want wins, or do you want money?

Problem is, if you are hiring, the guy who wants money is probably not the guy you want to hire...

Why wouldn’t Urb wait for the Michigan job if it opens? He won’t wanna coach lil’ bro. That’d be like coaching at EIU if ISU was coming open…
