For the record, I think Coach Knight was a real dip…a bully, abusive and hypocritical. That being said..”A Season on the Brink” was a fascinating read. The chapter “Damon” was almost surreal. His assistant coaches really had to cater to his strange moods and attitudes.
Re the hypocritical part..he railed against his student athletes having to play with an 8 pm tip off that would impact their studies. He was also prone to make his players practice until the wee hours after returning from an away game.
FWIW, I have a cabin in southern Wyoming and a friend that guides on the North pPlatte River for flyfishing…in his long career, the only client he terminated at lunch time was….Bob Knight. And this is a guy who’s guided hundreds of people. Remember...he’s also the fellow that shot his friend while grouse hunting in Wisconsin . And told the friend to not report the incident.
