Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

It’s going to be a rough year for Iowa. I’m predicting slightly above .500. I don’t trust anyone on the roster to carry this team for multi game stretches. There’s no alpha. Only thing I’m looking forward to is watching the true Freshmen play and grow. I like all 4 of them but particularly Harding and Freeman.

Sidenote: I’m willing to bet Harding will become a top 2 or 3 most disliked Hawk by ISU fans by the time he’s done. He plays with and edge that opponents are going to hate.
About how I feel as well. Wouldn't mind if this was Fran's last year.

I suppose Fran has earned a little respect for finding very under recruited guys that turn into serviceable players and recruiting is far from an exact science, but man it seems like this is going to be a rough year if this is the only PG on your roster...

I'm not counting on Harding to play a ton this year. I'm guessing Dix and Bowen play the majority of the minutes. Not sure how much of a PG Dix is, but he can handle the ball pretty well, is pretty athletic and can hit threes.

Harding feels like a 4 year TOE point guard. Not a great shooter but can run the show well enough and has an existing connection with Freeman who will be one of Iowa's better players down the road. Harding is undersized and will get eaten alive defensively but Fran doesn't care about that.

I could see Bowen hitting the portal this offseason and heading back East. Doesn't seem to fit the rest of the roster.

Maybe Iowa can NIL their guards for something. Like ISU did for purchase Moore hamann bacon. Thinking there may be a Viagra type vibe in there.

Harding will be getting more minutes than Bowen by BIG play is my prediction.

Harding ended up becoming 4A Mr. Basketball in Illinois. I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t end being pretty good, maybe not great but All B10 worthy by his Senior year.

Harding is going to have to produce a lot offensively to justify a substantial amount of playing time. His size alone makes him a big liability on the defensive end. If nothing else it subtracts a lot from the cumulative length out there. Also big guards are just going to attack the rim on him all night. I get flashbacks to Wes Eikmeier and Clayton Custer. They came in with similar accolades.

I can’t for the life of me understand why Iowa fans would be high on Harding. He’s undersized, was very lightly recruited and will struggle on both ends of the floor, especially defensively.

Come on man, it's all we got at this point.
