***2023 College Football Playoff Rankings***

I guess OSU's victories over KU and KSU are better than their losses to S Alabama and us? This is the first time I'm feeling that loss to Ohio really hurting, (aside from the pain that day). Losses to UI and OU only and we are ahead of them. Oh well, either they get their 3rd loss this week, or they look like odds on winners of Big XII.

Who have they beat this year … that schedule so far is soft.
Haven’t played anyone but I am surprised OSU is higher then Georgia
I have just seen some of the whoopings Michigan has doled out and they've beaten tOSU lately, that's why.
Ohio St could definitely be better, I haven't seen them more than the ND game really.

In a vacuum I have no problem with Ohio State being #1...best SOS of the undefeated teams. That's logical and is how I'd probably vote pretty consistently if I could serve on the sbc.

In context of seeing how the sbc has changed its moving target criteria year to year, month to month and week to week to benefit Ohio State specifically so many times... I'm pretty skeptical of them starting out as #1 in front of Michigan/Georgia. Michigan will take care of itself, so no big deal. The annual push for tOSU will get interesting if/when they lose a game. I'm trying to imagine the criticism an ACC or Big 12 or Pac 12 team would face if they got a layup vs say #49 computer ranked B10W Nebraska in their CCG, any of them could drop even if they won big.

With so many Big 12 teams having a rough start the only hope to get in top 4 is probably Alabama and Texas both keep winning and they won't jump a brand like Texas with a team that they beat. Since that's the reality I hope B12 doesn't get a team in this year but instead just beats a ton of these B10/SEC teams in bowls.

I am sure Iowa is lurking around top 30, so that is six teams on our schedule in the top 30. Not too shabby.

Yeah without the Ohio loss it'd be pretty hard to have OKSt in front of us.

KU has the big win and KSU has the eye test right now but at 6-2 we'd probably be right on the edge. ISU also has some of the same thing going as KSU/OKSt where we just look a lot better week after week.

FWIW in the Massey composite James Madison (#20) is actually the best group of five team out of sun belt.

Wouldn't that be wild a team that has barely been FBS getting in first playoff next year. It's really going to be the least scientific part of the playoff structure next year, glad it's there but actually determining best G5 champ is going to be a lot harder than seeding the top teams.

Next strongest G5 according to comp avg:
Air Force is #21
Liberty #26
Tulane #32

Pretty much every computer model has KSU ranked higher than KU. Surprising # of them have KSU top 10.

I see the annual Ohio State boner is completely erect already.

Understand a bit why they are 1, but at the same time I don’t think the two-time defending champs Georgia have done anything not to be 1.

Then we got to listen to Reece Davis try to talk with the Buckeyes’ knob in his mouth. Ohio State was lucky Marcus Freeman was stupid that night because Notre Dame should have won that game.

The whole panel aside from McElroy talked about how you have looked and eye test despite if you have lost head to head to someone. They kept going on how Oregon, despite losing to Washington is the better team and should/could be ranked ahead of the Huskies. What’s the point of playing the game?

McElroy said the same about OU and Texas that when all things are equal, head to head should decide it. The others all disagreed that those two teams were equal because OU squeaked by in a rivalry game against UT. Huh? Oklahoma basically dominated that game until the fourth quarter and in the end, they won and both teams have the same record with 1 loss.

Yup, tough for ND to hold the lead when they decided to play only 10 guys on defense.
