In memoriam of Brian Ferentz as Iowa's OC

Won't the challenge be going forward for whoever becomes the new OC is to work with the players Ferentz brought on offense. Are those player good and were they being held back and not showcasing their talents because B. F. was the coordinator?

I’m confused. Is it really resigning if his contract was not renewed? Or was he even let go for that matter? They have just chosen to cut ties at the conclusion of his contract, which based on thei
He was actually fired a while ago, but a glitch in payroll kept sending him paychecks. They just fixed the glitch.

Whats everyone going to say, whey they tell us that he resigned as OC to take over Daddy's HC spot......:jimlad:

Damn! That’s a statement. Basically said it was her decision and the offense wasn’t good enough. Usually you get boilerplate “we thank them for all their hard work over the years, but we think now is the right time to go in a different direction with the program blah, blah, blah”

I don’t see how Kirk stays after this year, since she made it pretty clear this was her decision

One would think this might be it for Kirk. However I do think there is a lot to make of how close he is to the Big 10 record for wins or whatever. Kirk is just smug enough to want to hang around long enough to achieve that I think. What does he need, 10 more wins? 11?
I think he's at 192, Woody's at 202. 10 to tie, 11 to take the record. IL, NW, Rutgers and NE left on the slate for this year, plus a bowl. The bad news is Rutgers and NE have occasionally seemed like groups of people aware they’re playing football lately. They’ll probably draw someone well above their caliber in the bowl, but depending on motivation and opt-outs, who knows. What do we think, 3 more wins? That leaves 8 for next year.

The problem is, they actually have a P4 calibre schedule next year. All the OOC games are at home (IL St, ISU, Troy). Home conference games against NW, NE, WI and WA. MD, MI St, MN, Ohio St and UCLA all on the road. Are there 8 wins there? I think they’re going to have to pull an upset or two plus not have any head scratchers like the MN game.
