Found in his jacuzzi. I’m sadly guessing relapse. Hope I’m wrong.
Though I haven't really kept up with any of their lives since Friends, I had absolutely no idea that he had been struggling with addiction. So very sad.
For you Dateline people, he seemed to be close to his step-dad of many decades, Keith Morrison:

He struggled with addiction during the show. You can tell which seasons when he would lose a ton of weight.
He also dealt with other weird health problems (probably due to the drugs) that might have contributed to his death as well.
I believe he had horrible anxiety issues which was probably related to his drug addiction. Anxiety can be such a killer. Everyone has to cope with it and some folks really struggle.
Even if he didn’t relapse, the damage decades of drugs probably did on his heart wasn’t likely a great combo with a jacuzzi.
Being reported no drugs or alcohol were found at the scene.

I went a little crazy during the pandemic and was comfort watching Friends a LOT. I was watching several hours on TBS during the day and then watching it on Nick at Night at night. It holds up pretty well, probably partly because it was actually airing in my high school and college days.
I always said, once they started the Ross and Rachel love thing, the best idea would have bean to immediately spin off Chandler and Joey to their own show and turn Ross and Rachel into the daytime Soap it was It should have been. Chandler and Joey would have been Seinfeld if Jerry and Cramer were actually roommates.
