Ames Lager

Went to Hy-Vee in Marshalltown last night to load up before the weekend and it was the only one that was sold out. Plenty of the other 3 and Swam but no Ames Lager left:(

Finally found some at the local Hy Vee wine and spirits. Nothing special but for a good cause. We Will buy again someday.

Anyone else see an issue with the cans? I had some that I put in the refrigerator and as I was putting them I I noticed the cans had bees oozing around the top (where the top connects to the van). I’ve never experienced that before.

Is there any at the grocery stores in Ames? Our son in S. Carolina wants us to bring some down when we visit next week.

No but that certainly sounds problematic.

Side note: Anyone know of locations in eastern IA (think further east than even Cedar Rapids) selling the Smoked Red Trice beer or the Hazy IPA Backpocket?

I picked up the Trice beer at the Grinnell Hy Vee. Not Eastern IA but you might check your local Hy Vee. I really like the Trice Red Corn beer. Has some hops but less than an IPA.

Echoing statements that I think its a solid beer. It's not trying to be a craft beer, its not an IPA, its nothing fancy. It's something you can drink easily and its better tasting than a cheap beer. After you have a can you're like "yeah, I'd have another". It's a crapshoot when you do something like this that if it tastes really weird people will stay away from it. This is the opposite of that. I would actually describe it as "generic" but in a good way.
I think it is very similar to PBR in the one can I drank.

I think it’s a real problem is you have bees coming out of the cans.

Public Service Announcement: If you contact me in advance, I can provide a six-pack at cost for several of you in the RV Village on Friday night or Saturday. It is the main beer that we serve at our tailgate.
