Floating Island

Seems like there should be a way to put a structure near the bridge to keep the big away from it. Some sort of concrete piers far enough away to get the bog hung up and keep a lane open.

I had heard about that before but never seen it. It is crazy to me that there are 20 foot trees on a floating bog.

I’m surprised at some point it doesn’t attach to part of the shore that isn’t blocking that bridge and they just leave it there. Even if it wasn’t an environmental concern to destroy it, seems like destroying something that big with that many trees would be harder than moving It once a year anyway.

I think it's how many of the bogs are; they just happen to be attached to land.

I"ve been out on some up north and it feels like you're floating.

Legit thought this thread was going to be somehow related to the poop knife one.

We went to a fen in NE Iowa when I was on a field trip for a soils class at ISU. It was pretty cool. Felt kinda like walking on a giant water bed.

I've vacationed on the Flowage many times in the last 30 years. A beautiful place with a cool history. Best not to go ripping around there too fast in your fishing boat if you're a newbie.

Never been but it and a couple of other flowages look like they have too many recreational boaters and more of a party cove type situation for my liking.

The Chip is nothing like that. Very little recreation, in fact. Mostly serious fisherman, and a lot going for musky. It's a big body, so you'll never feel crowded.

That's good to know...wonder what I'm thinking of.

I've never actually been to the Hurley area so maybe I'll find my way up there.
