I just saw a twitter post that got me thinking about my first date with my wife. Where did you go? Who paid?

We went to the Applebee's in Cedar Falls, I paid, and nearly 30 years later she still remembers what we both ate.

Geez, not much left to do based on that list.

Went to McCoy's in Kansas City for drinks (I am pretty sure that is what it was called across the street from Kelly's). We met online, so this seemed like a next natural step for drinks to meet in person. I was a gentleman and paid.

McCoys was across the st.

I think ours was actually PF Changs. We both agreed to it though, one didn't spring it on the other.

I heard about that list on the radio this morning. I think it's a little extreme.

In my single days, ice cream date, coffee date, or a sporting event would have been just fine. And I really didn't care where we ate (some of us were on a budget back then, so sometimes cheap is necessary). Movie is definitely out because you can't really talk. And church? Not my thing, but I guess if that matters to both, it could be an interesting date. Definitely no to the family event thing though.

Now that is one hell of a list of red flags. Not the list contents, the people who see that list and agree with it. Yikes. Dodging bullets out here if she won't agree to a quick ice cream or drink date to chat a bit.

Yeah, I don’t get the no coffee date/ice cream date/no date to get drinks; I’ve never really had a problem when suggesting those types of dates.

The nice thing about them is that if there isn’t chemistry you can end them relatively quickly. If you have a dinner date and the chemistry isn’t good/it isn’t going well, you have to get through dinner

I mean I guess chains can be boring...but what's the general expectation?
