F*CK IOWA

So, Iowa is still in the catbirds seat for the west, right? Wisconsin needs to win out after Thee Ohio State next week and someone needs to beat Iowa for them to win. Might come down to Iowa needing to win in Lincoln. Husker's defense looks pretty good when not playing Michigan. Could be another epic 14-10 slugfest.
Iowa will lose at least one more. I predict 2-2 and wouldn't be shocked to see them lose 3 of last 4. That offense is just so incredibly inept.

Just to add to the thread, this is from the NCAA publication on rules interpretations

Invalid Signal—ARTICLE 3
Approved Ruling 2-8-3
I. During Team A’s punt from the A-20, receiver B44 points at the grounded
punt at midfield. As B44 points at the ball, (a) he keeps his hands below
his shoulders with no waving motion; (b) he keeps his hands below his
shoulders and has a waving motion; (c) he has his hands just above the
shoulders with no waving motion. RULING: Rule 2-8-3 states that any
waving motion that does not meet the criteria for a valid signal is an invalid
signal. Additionally, by interpretation the receiver is allowed to point at a
kick as long as his hands remain below the shoulder and there is no waving
motion. Both (b) and (c) would be an Invalid Fair Catch Signal. In (a), this
would not be considered a signal at all, and Team B would retain the right
to recover the ball and advance.

And to allow the play to run its course is, of course, good procedure.

By the way betting the under with Iowa the last couple of years, is probably one of the best bets in the history of gambling

Only other thing that compares was Patriots covering the spread in their undefeated season

For guys that like to bet please keep Brian on staff

Its pretty funny how badly they think they were screwed. Every national analyst I've seen has said its the correct call. Ticky tack? Sure. Tough way to lose? Absolutely. But its not 'the worst call I've ever seen' as Travis Justice claimed.
I honestly don’t even think it’s ticky tack. If he was trying to communicate to one of his teammates with that weird waving motion, it wasn’t that effective…so he was either trying to be intentionally deceptive or he was making a really useless motion to his teammates.

It seems clear to me that it impacted the Minnesota players; though, and I think if he doesn’t do that…he doesn’t make it to the end zone.

The attention is obviously on Iowa and whether they got screwed, but if I were a Minnesota fan, and it didn’t go the way it did, I would have been unbelievably mad. You can see a couple of their guys slow up when DeJean is waving. If you allow him to wave like that, that just encourages players to try to toe the line of what is and isn’t a fair catch (to basically throw the other team off and cheat). This may have just been an innocent mistake, but it had to be called the way it was.
The fact that the company line from KF was "that is just the way he usually runs" or " he was just trying to keep his balance" just confirms that the purpose was to deceive. That is an unnatural running motion, nobody runs like that except small uncoordinated children.
KF knows the offense is crap so will do anything to gain an edge. Just like Lurch used to do by holding other player's arms during tipoff In basketball, or Caitlin Clark with her constant push-off/chicken wing. Their athletes are taught to try to get away with anything to win. Comes from their coaches.

You absolutely will. I'm not saying there won't be a bunch of Panther ones. But there will be a ton of Iowa ones (and flags too). I've literally driven right down Hudson Rd multiple times on gamedays in Cedar Falls and seen this. You don't have to like it but it is what it is. I get there are Cyclone fans in there (and growing) but there's no denying the major Hawk contingent among "Panther" fans.

I went to that event in Des Moines where all four teams played a couple times in a row not that long ago and it was pretty clear that the UNI fans were getting to see both their teams and 100% of them would chear against ISU vs Drake as if Drake were their team too. The UNI fans in my section would use “we” for UNI basketball and Fran Ball interchangeably.

For the most part there are ISU fans and then the other fans against ISU and for their various multiple teams or just Iowa.

It is what it is.

In basketball you have to laugh at it since ISU has had about 3x the success of Iowa this century. I mean UNI on their own has had as much or more success as the Fran era, they’re brain damaged to follow Fran ball in addition to UNI. In football I sort of get it because it’s fun to have a local FBS team.

@FriendlySpartan what is the back story here?
About an hour and a half before the game started the Jumbotron was playing a trivia game from the YouTube channel the Quiz Channel or something like that. They do this or something similar before most home games this season. The question from the video was what country was hitler born in.

Obv with everything going on it’s a bad look and I don’t know when or even if someone had looked at this specific video before it ran but it was just from a quiz channel. Still as a major public entity you should be reviewing everything youre going to have up like that even if it’s 90mins pregame from a previously vetted source.

And apparently, they just stole it

B10 should force Iowa to put up nets/fences in front of all stands like MLB stadiums in front of some seats, to protect on field personnel.

Since they have shown that this is a regular problem, at their home stadium.
Force them to put distance between stands and playing field. Remove the first 10 rows of seats.

I say he has to run all future kicks/punts back waving his off hand in a circular motion to prove that is his natural running motion.

You are really gonna die on this hill arent you.

All of this has been answered, and explained.

They let the play finish, then reviewed it. Everyone gets mad when they blow plays dead, and then find out in review they should have let the play continue too.

Bottom line is, it was reviewable, it was reviewed, and it was the correct call.
Ya I guess I am, as Chris William posted on twitter, he asked 3 people, and while it was the correct call, they have never see it called. I just remember all the times a call just like this went against ISU, the UT game where the officials gave them a TD at the end of the game when we came out with the ball and were sprinting down the field. The call against us verses WV where Breece scored, and they called it a fumble. There are plenty more out there and we all know it.

Do I love that it happened verses EIU, sure I do, but for us as a fanbase to pretend that it while the correct call was not a shaky call is beyond crazy.
You never see that called in a game, but they did yesterday, they called it right, even though they never call it.

Replace never with rarely. It is called about once a week across the U.S. so never is not even close. I will agree with rarely called.

There's no point in signaling to his blockers, they are all typically looking down-field. Only the defenders are looking at the returner.
