Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

Amazing Fran has had the (limited) level of success he has with teams (mostly) made up of his own offspring, lifelong Hawkeye fans, and legacy recruits. He's lucky the occasional "outsider" (e.g., Cook and Garza) has come in and been good enough to pull his chestnuts out of the fire (though never to accomplish anything truly memorable).

Fran has greatly benefited from a really weak B1G since he's been there too. Dr. Tom put up similar results in what was a stacked conference while Fran has caught a ton of breaks.

Nothing memorable?

The win over Grand Canyon the Garza teams achieved was pretty memorable

How did SDSU get to their current level if Pharaoh is their first top-100 recruit in nearly a decade?
Steve Fisher and Brian Dutcher are both really good.

Plus, you have to take recruiting rankings with a big grain of salt at that level. Lots of times they get early commits that the services kind of give up on and don't rank them to where they really fit.

It's just like every Alabama football recruit is a 4-star simply for committing to Alabama

They, Iowa, will be tested this year...some strong non-cons (ISU, Creighton, Oklahoma, Seton Hall/USC) and early BIG battles with Purdue and Michigan.

I could see Harding playing a lot this year actually. Fran set things up to be thin in the backcourt. The Sandfort's can theoretically help out some but Iowa only has 4 true scholarship guards on the team.

Odd roster construction. Can ill afford any type of injury to the few capable primary handlers Perkins, Dix or Bowen.
