Smoking Meat Questions and Discussion

The guy that created the Pepper X was on the news last night, He ate a whole one and had a whole story about what happened next.

I'll never cease to be amazed at how willing people are to absolutely eviscerate their taste buds, throat, gut, and butthole in one bite.

On a side note, I did some pulled pork last weekend and found 2 good products to go along with pulled pork that I had never tried.

1. Texas Pete Hotter Hot Sauce

2. Stubb's Sticky Sweet BBQ Sauce

In the grand scheme of things, its amazing what people will put themselves through sometimes! FFS, Iowa sells out home football games!

Grew some reapers a few years ago. Had a friend that had a dehyradator and dehydrated them. He told me to never do this in your house or garage. He said the fumes in his garage burned his eyes for like three day. I crushed them into powder and still have some that I will put in Chili and other dishes. Still hot as hell!!

Smoking some frenched lamb ribs this weekend to prepare for our Christmas lamb cook. Anyone have experience with lamb ribs? I'm thinking of trying half the rack as a roast and the other half as individual ribs to see how they differ.

No idea why you would eat it.
I've often wondered that about these super hot peppers. Do they actually have any flavor, or do people just like punishing themselves? Is the flesh of the pepper super hot, or is it just the seeds?

I like spicy food and regularly eat things with jalapeños, chilis, etc, but I have a hard time wrapping my head around the super hot peppers actually adding enough flavor to overcome the absurd spice levels.

I'd think even if they do have any flavor to them, your taste buds are going to be disintegrated within seconds, so what's the point?

Some people just like pooping blood I guess.
I was at BWW's many years ago with a group and one of the guys was like this, he wanted the hottest wings they had and on the first one he started writhing in his chair, his eyes were watering, he was coughing and hacking, rocking back and forth, taking huge drinks of milk. He ate the whole basket and after looked like he'd been mugged. I just don't get it. I love some heat on my food, but I can't understand putting yourself through absolute torture like that. Maybe it's a 'tough guy' thing and they think they're proving something. Who knows.

Made a trip down to Runnels over the weekend and picked up some wood. A LOT cheaper option than buying it from Hawgeyes or other local DSM options. It was all white oak.

You're probably dead on with what you're describing, but I know a few older people that just have a super high spice tolerance. Grow all kinds of peppers and just don't even sweat when eating them. Is eating spicy things like drinking alcohol? Like after so many years of eating (drinking) you just need a little more to achieve the desired heat (buzz)?
