New Uniforms Revealed

Definitely - & pants!

But, I would never wear all three together...
1. Have a gold (not yellow) set of pants, yes! But I don't think we'll do it with Campbell here unless the AD adopts and adds a better or darker gold. Campbell might go for that. The fans would largely be happier with that, IMO. 2. If we were to get a darker gold pant, a darker gold jersey would be an option, I suppose. I think a stipulation would be to not use it with the gold pants, ever. Maybe a rare special occasion. 3. And sure, I'd like a darker gold helmet too, but I don't think that is an option. Reason being, we would then have 4 helmets and that is one too many and too costly. Having 3 helmets is pretty costly as it is. We are not getting rid of the black helmet any time soon. We are definitely keeping the cardinal & white helmets. Odd helmet out is the gold. [And I would NOT be in favor of ever adding a gold helmet if it was our current yellow. No thanks there.]

Conversely, really liked the White Jersey - Gold Pants combo we've worn a couple times in the past.

This is a beautiful combo.
The current yellow actually works very well with this Away set. It looks great. I've always liked those sh. stripes on the white jersey.

The problem with that yellow pant is pairing it up with the cardinal jersey. A lot of people don't care for that, including me.

Perhaps. But ISU has had a lot of helmet variants in recent years.

In addition to our standard white, cardinal and black (not counting "AMES" special):

* White w/ black stencil logo
* "Matte" cardinal
* Stencil cardinal logo on white (no gold)
* Stencil black logo on white
* Chrome cardinal
* White with the sparkly-gold trim on I-State logo (vs. standard gold/yellow)

(Going from memory, maybe I missed one?).

To be fair, we didn't have all of those within the same season, so maybe it's a timeframe/overlap situation.

All of those, and other variants have been on the base 3 helmets, white, cardinal, & black). Simply changing the logo stickers, etc., front and back bumpers, facemask, chin strap can give you a bunch of different looks, in season.

The two notable exceptions that you mentioned. 1. The matte cardinal, I can't quite remember but I'm glad they got rid of that one. My guess it was near the end of the year, and they painted it matte? Then they sent those helmets back to the factory for refurbishing in the off-season?

2. The Chrome cardinal. Yeah, that was only used a couple of times? Wasn't the last time the Liberty Bowl in '17? Anyway, I think they realized they weren't using them much, and that the color was lighter than our cardinal (not close to matching), and they sent them back for refurbishing in the off-season? Just my guess. They could have gotten a credit on some new ones, or maybe they were refurbished into our regular cardinal ones? I'm not sure how all of that really works.

We could support 4 different helmet colors. But helmets are pretty costly to buy, fit and upkeep. And how many teams, not named Oregon, have 4 helmets? Not many, I would guess.

I'm willing to give up black for gold/yellow

The chrome helmet was the white helmet with the chrome "coating" - worn twice (if memory serves me), at the Independence Bowl & @ K-State in 2019 - obvs, the bowl game was our last game of the season & we wore the black helmet in the next game (bowl vs ND) in 2019 - so white was made chrome, then refurbed after the season - those chrome finishes can be kinda **** - I'm sure they're improving as a lot more teams are wearing them more often, but they can often crack & flake, leaving the original helmet color exposed - check out the top of Monty's helmet - they're a neat one-off - although they need to come up with a better color mixture - these look pink in the sun

I still am dying to know whatever happened to the merit stickers from Purdy's freshman/sophomore year went.

I actually asked CMC one time when i met him about it and he thought i was talking about the CBA memorial decals/stickers.
