21 years ago yesterday The Run!

Can't believe it has been that long ago. Still gives me chill.

At risk of detracting:

1. Would Wagner's block have gotten a penalty, if it happened today? (Basic question regarding current rules vs. that era)
2. A secondary thought when I think of The Run (and that game), how it was like a last shining moment before the season began to unravel. (Hate that it comes to mind, but it does.)

After this imo he was the Heisman front runner then the unfortunate season turn occurred.

Yes, Wagner's block would be an illegal blindside block in today's rules. Rule basically says the block is illegal is the opponent can't see the block coming

I was at the game. I remember everyone yelling for seneca to throw the ball away when he was at the 30 yard line. There was also a wide open receiver in the end zone around that same time of the play, but the receiver was on the opposite side of the field and it would had been a very long throw

Oh... and thanks @CycloneRulzzz for reminding me I could legally drink now if I was born the day of that game, I may need a drink thinking how depressing that is!!!

I had a blast at this game! I believe we had a bye week after this so at least we had an extra week to enjoy the pinnacle before OU ripped the soul out of this team.

Also how weird is it that tbs used to air college football games?
And back then it was a big deal to have a game televised. I think the lights at JTS were temporary. I don't remember if the permanent lights had been installed yet

According to wiki permanent lighting was installed in 2002.

We did grass angels on the field after that game. We had seats in what is now the student section. I couldn't talk for like two days after that game. What a game!!

Butler maybe, Wagner for sure (blindside block). Negate the touchdown, 15 yards from the spot, replay the down.

2nd and 23 from the Tech 24.

A couple of weeks ago, I saw game highlights and QB did a version of "The Run" -- can't for the life of me recall which game. Anyone know what that might have been? It might be the only example of a play that rivaled Seneca's, at least to my k-knowledge.

Didn’t Jack Whitver do something on that play … other than escorting Seneca into the end zone?

I went back through my posts because I remember making a post to that effect. Yours is probably from a different game but post I made was from the TCU/ISU game.

Starting QB scrambled for while but then found a receiver in the end zone and passed for the td. So not totally the same but start of the play was similar.
