ISU MBB Picked 7th in Big 12 Preseason Poll

If things really click I could see us winning it. I think we have the talent to do so. We may lack experience and other intangibles though. 2-7 seems realistic.

In older days, 7th wouldn't seem great at all, but 7th is awfully good in this crazy conference. At least half of the teams ahead of us will manage to spend some serious time in the Top 10, so 7th definitely isn't a disrespectful ranking here.

Would put us at about 4th if we outperform these preseason polls as typical. (other than Prohm collapse years)

That's pretty damn good in this new conference and with all our new players. If we end up 5-7 that's a great year.

If AZ, KU, Houston and Baylor stay at where they've typically been the past five years this conference is going to be as far ahead in hoops as the SEC is in football. That's without even getting to ISU, KSU, TCU and the other programs that have reason to be optimistic.

Can't say I'll like road trips to Colorado again, seemed like even our best teams would struggle in their empty high altitude gym.

We have KU and Houston in this conference plus Baylor and Texas will be talented. A top 3 finish this year would be insane. To me the high end is probably 4. I'm hoping for 5-7 finish

Crazy. A top 10 team picked to finish 7th in their conference. Big 12 is so good.

I wonder how often a top ten recruiting class coming off consecutive NCAA appearances that included a Sweet 16 has been picked 7th in any conference.

Going to go out on a limb and say never.

TJ's teams have outperformed pre season expectations. I'm looking forward to this team doing the same.

Hoiball got picked 8th out of 10, almost last, pretty much every single year. It got to the point where I considered getting picked 8th out of 10 a sign of guaranteed success.
