How many times in ISU football history has ISU had a winning record in the Big 12 play? Ideally break this down by pre-CMC and with CMC.

It's amazing the current mood among Cyclone Nation from post Ohio to today..

2000, '17, '18, '19, '20, '21.

According to the Google and the Wikipedia.
Did we not get to 5-3 either of McCarney later seasons? The two where we blew the Big 12 North on the last week against Mizzou and then Kansas

We also had 5 winning seasons in the Big 8 under Bruce (3, 1976-1978), Majors (1, 1971) and Stapleton (1, 1960).

I also counted 9 winning conference records in the Missouri Valley Conference from 1908-1927, and 3 in the Big Six from 1928-1947.

OP asked for Big 12 so just went with that.

Also had a winning conference record in '89.

The 80's is a confusing reference in ISU lore: it gets lumped in with the 90s but by today's standards they would have made 3 bowls.

Yeah, I just figured some historical context - that we haven't been super successful in any conference during any period - might help. There are so many young fans who don't know how bad we've been. I get that nobody likes setbacks. But ISU has never had sustained success in its entire football history.

Even the 'highs' are met with general mediocrity. Beat #2 OSU in 2011 to a...6-6 season.

Beat two top ten ranked teams in 4 weeks in 2017 and...7-5.

2017 should have been at least 8-4 with the K-State pass interference debacle. The OSU loss at home still stings too.

Ugh the KSU picked up flags then the Wizard didn't even retire. It is amazing in a sad way how many ways ISU can lose.
