Pregame atmosphere

I thought the students rocked the corner. The atmosphere was seriously one of the best I have ever been in. Sure there were things like drowning out Cyclone Power, but the opening felt like big time college football, and they should capture and do that every time.

Eventually people will figure out that it doesn't matter where the students sit as long as they are engaged.

Put the stupid plexiglass in front of where the students used to be, then move the students back. 2 problems solved and I have been suggesting Thunderstruck for years. Cyclones are a weather event, so have weather songs

Interrupting Cyclone Power was just stupid.
It would seem to me that Cyclone Power should end with the Cyclone Warning Siren. Maybe it does, and I am just not remembering correctly. Whatever the order was on Saturday was really good.

Well put them in the parking lot then. I mean as long as they are engaged, right?

When it comes to affecting the game.....it makes a HUGE difference where they sit.

Just like Hilton where they are now stuck behind the baskets. If someone says there is no difference between the way it was and now, they are either too young........or full of s***.

Stats and scores don't pay the bills.
With the length and number of commercials, there is plenty of down down to check scores being a college football fan. With the wi-fi sub par at times, nice to be able to check in and around college football with score that update more frequently. Not every fan is trying to figure the next best time to relieve themselves from their fireball shooters and beers they snuck in. If a pass if dropped in open space with no opponent in sight, there is no coverage on the play. #ballcarrier, #stopped-by, #quarterback keeper

Atmosphere was great from start to end and the fireworks were a super exciting start to the night! One thing I noticed at the very beginning the PA announcer tried to get a Cyclone Power chant started, and right as it got going they played a video on the video board and drowned out the chant. Just little out of sync moments like this need to be ironed out.

Also, PLAY SWAG SURF!!!

Someone would have to pay for this, and the AD has said for decades that the hillsides matter and are not going away, but.....

Build permanent seating in NW corner like there is in the SE corner where the students are currently. That would give the students a similar-sized area to what they have now, they would be by the band, and they would be not impeding the visiting team's exit.

Maybe keep the NE hillside and build an upper deck seating there. Again, I know there is not money for that (or maybe need), but it would put the students by the band.

Not sure if NEZ views are hindered by the videoboard.

We all WANT MORE! But as the OP said, kudos to whoever is doing the pre-game and in-game production. Someone must have gotten a bug in Jamie's ear, because for the first time we're actually taking it seriously. Video, speakers, lighting, wifi, etc. all costs big dollars, bigger than most people realize. It's refreshing to see that we're at least at "acceptable" in all of the above categories with more improvements on the way.

Maybe I’m in the minority but I thought the entrance was pretty bad again on Saturday. It wasn’t loud enough. Thunderstruck definitely isn’t as good as Power IMO, and the entrance could definitely use more storm sirens. When they replace the scoreboards I really hope they get LED lights that can flash on and off during the entrance and Juicy Wiggle, would make the atmosphere even better

I largely agree with @BillBrasky4Cy that many make too big of a deal out of where the students are and how much it affects the atmosphere. There might be some loss from not having the band and students next to each other, but I don't think there's much loss at all during actual gameplay. Last season, it just so happened that the student section move coincided with a very difficult year.

Students in the NW corner might seem like a fix to the students and band, but I think the students can also be more annoying to the opponents when they're behind the visitors' bench as opposed to Iowa State's.

Once you get north of the Jacobson balcony, you run the risk of obstructed views to the end zone corners. Hastily-Photoshopped image in 3, 2, 1...
