49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

The whole world figured out that Brock Purdy is for real last night and not a figment of some luck or system. He was special. Was that the greatest performance by a Cyclone in NFL history? Had to be.

I think so, especially on that stage.

That seemed to be one of the bigger marquee type matchups on SNF in a long while.

And yesterday may have been collectively the best day for former Cyclones with Montgomery and Hall's performances.

Dallas is one of the best teams in the NFC for sure, the 49ers are just that good right now. I think the only question about the 49ers now is if they can keep this performance up for a full season, it's not easy to stay at this level for that long. But if they even come close they're the best team in the league.

They have the best roster. Miami has the fire power to punch with anybody. Same goes for Buffalo, KC and Philly. We will see if Dallas can rebound.

Another data point for why I believe Purdy is the MVP: he is doing this for under $1M against the salary cap. His performance allowed Lynch to pay their top players at the skill positions and on the defense. Purdy is playing at a Pro-Bowl (maybe even all-pro) level for $890k this season.

MVP lines updated overnight. The Vegas Insider books have him somewhere between +500 to +800, which is MVP favorite to 5th best odds competing with Mahomes, Tua, Hurts and Allen. And it's a steep drop to #6 at +1400.

Hope someone has a +3000 ticket from the beginning of the season.

Buffalo’s problem is SF, Philly, KC and Miami have QBs that make the right read consistently and throw with accuracy and they do not. In one given game Allen could dominate, but the odds he can make it through a full playoff run without a bonehead game are pretty slim.

At one point I was excited that Purdy was able to get a contract, could probably hold that for a few years, invest wisely, hold a clipboard and have a nice life. Never thought anyone would give him the chance to play starting minutes, then when he was forced into it, I thought, they'll hire over him or sure....

I was so hilariously wrong. Purdy has really stepped up in such an incredible way. It is such a nice story.

Allen reminds me so much of Farve as a passer. Except I think Farve was a little better at being a QB which got him over the hump. Allen may never get good enough at just being a QB to win a Super Bowl.

In Week 5 of the 2023 NFL season current MVP Odds.... Is this even real life?
