I will have to take a look at it. You guys know best and have watched him the most in College. From what little I saw I thought he was an accurate passer in College and was a good athlete too. RG3 loves him and gives high praise. He said he thought he was a baller and he does the College games. He though Brock was very good and underrated. But I never thought he would be this good. He's absolutely amazing.Starting from page 1 and reading through some of the old takes will be fun on this thread!
Quite honestly, I think most Cyclone fans would have thought Brock's ceiling was as a Chase Daniel type backup. Trusted because he is very sharp and a great locker room guy/leader, but probably didn't have the skill set to be a consistent starter in the NFL. He made some bone headed plays at Iowa State likely from trying to do too much with the lack of talent around him. I don't think any Cyclone fan predicted this much success this fast, but boy is it fun to followI will have to take a look at it. You guys know best and have watched him the most in College. Became an expert on your 7 points after 4 years starting behind a **** OL here.I call him Brock_Star Montana Purdy.
To me he is absolutely awesome. The best QB since Montana and Young bar none. Nobody compares in probably 20 years or more. He's outstanding at these.
* Reads pre snap
* Reads post snap
* Going quickly through progressions
* Making the right decision
* Getting the ball out quick
* Having excellent mechanics and throwing an accurate ball
* Athletic enough to scramble around to buy time to throw or get a 1st down
To me he was downgraded because of height and weight and good but not great speed. At the combine they look for a specimen. They want 6'4" 225 lbs. Can run a 4.5 40 yard dash. But none of that matters compared to processing the game and good mechanics and accurate passing.
To me he seems like a young Drew Brees. They are about the same size. Or a young Montana. Just great between the ears and really accurate mechanics.
So what was he for you? I understand he started 4 years and 46 starts? It shows in his experience. I watched him in College. But not as much as you.
IMO right now he is playing like a top 10 QB with the chance to move into the top 5. He's just phenomenal. I think he's incredibly great and thanks for sending him our way! We have a chance to win the Super Bowl now.

LOL. So his offensive line wasn't great? He had to do his reads quickly, get the ball out quick, throw accurately and be athletic to escape the rush? Maybe that was a great training ground for him for the NFL then. Sometimes you look back and going through the fire created the forged metal that you now are looking at it. Maybe it prepared him over 4 years for the NFL and us. Because he doesn't flinch and his head and eyes see things extremely quickly. Great for us! Thanks for preparing him.Became an expert on your 7 points after 4 years starting behind a **** OL here.

Imo he looks better coached now to make the simple play.
Breece Hall is still waiting for the dump off that would go for 20 yards on a few occasions.
Been about a decade since we have had a below average OL, we've always been a step under that. Brock had a **** ton of skill position guys to work with though.LOL. So his offensive line wasn't great? He had some great tight ends that helped a lot. Purdy to Kolar produced a lot of first downs. We had a few butterfinger receivers at times but some gems as well. I think our line just suffered from lack of good depth. He certainly had a good running back in Breece Hall and I think he also had David Montgomery his first year, can’t remember for sure.LOL. Brock did a lot with his legs. And he would pump fake even past the line of scrimmage, easy to tell from stands he was running but probably not for defenders on the field.
We were kind of used to him saving us with his legs, but he got dinged up one season and you could tell Campbell kind of put the brakes on some of his running to protect him more. A lot of complaining about not letting Brock be Brock. And of course October always was Brocktober
I think we had a great core group of guys along with Brock who were smart and had a great work ethic. David Montgomery was kind of an early leader in getting guys in the facility working at all hours, whether on school or football.
There were times when Brock didn’t seem to have superior arm strength but his character, leadership, and intelligence always were there. Mistakes usually were out of desperation.
Solid family whenever we interacted with them, and he carries himself with maturity beyond his years.
He changed his throwing motion and I think Kyle and Bob have really helped him make better decisions.Those are very interesting insights. Thanks for that. It's a lot of what we see too. Between the ears he seems superior. His mechanics and accuracy are very good for the most part. There is plenty enough arm strength there. He just doesn't have a rocket to throw 70 yards. But that's OK. Most QB's can't.
Other than desperation was he mostly very accurate though? Because that's what I see. Excellent mechanics and throwing accuracy. Is that what you guys mostly saw over the 4 years?
True!He changed his throwing motion and I think Kyle and Bob have really helped him make better decisions.
He had his moments when he was amazing, then there were other times you just wanted to choke him lol.
