49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

That play was amazing, but it didn't actually count as a pass because it was a lateral. Purdy certainly benefits from yards after the catch, but he is second in air yards per attempt behind Tua, so he's doing plenty of damage through the air.
Brock looks good. Nothing wrong with acknowledging he's got great YAC guys to throw to though.

I’m not sure if this is going to come through as a video on here, but I thought I’d share the link. This is a great breakdown of every Brock Purdy pass play from the cards game - it helps explain how well Brock is actually playing. The way he is reading the defense, pre & post snap recognition, his anticipation, and accuracy are unreal. It’s honestly remarkable for any QB but especially a young qb. He truly is a special player. I credit a lot of his nfl readiness to his time at Iowa state. When I go back and watch his college film - you can see the type of system he was running and throws he was asked to consistently make were nfl caliber plays.

Hopefully you guys enjoy this breakdown. This guy is going to be a special player for years to come. The 49ers got super lucky with him and he got lucky to be in a system with that fits him with so much talent around him. It’ll really enable him to blossom into the best player he can be.

I went back and listened to a podcast with Sage Rosenfels and Brock's throwing coach Will Hewlett. Hewlett mentions that for most QBs, they spoon feed information because it is often too much for the QBs to process. When Brock arrived, he asked Will to tell him everything because he could handle the intake of information. I think that shows in how he plays that Brock is an elite processor.

I’m embarrassed by some niner fans myself. Hahah no offense taken. Anyone that’s a fan of Brock is good in my book!
No fan base is perfect. For what it's worth, I've been a lifelong Packers fan and I've actively tried to attend games where we host SF at Lambeau because I like your fan base so much.

Meanwhile, I cannot stand my own.

Yep. Brock is simply out there being a professional. Yeah, he does have a bunch of high end weapons. Guess what a team of professionals does? They win. What have the Purdy Niner's done? Win. I think that's the one thing that people can't / don't want to accept about the 49ers is that they are a damn good team. Yeah they've got some monster stars, but the monster players have enough support around them that they don't always have to be superman.

At some point they will lose a game this season. Every team (except the '72 dolphins) has and will. Will it be Purdy who "loses" it for them? Probably. At some point he's going to throw an interception, or a ball is going to get tipped and it'll go against him whether it's his fault or not. Just part of the game.

That said, I'm all aboard the niner hype train. Bring on Brocktoberfest baby.

Agree...very few teams out there have success due to only one or two players. Many teams have the RB...or the WR...or the QB, but lack the others...rare if any success. SF has all of the skill players...just needed the final piece to guide the team, not become the "over the top" player.

As for other teams lacking the pieces...I imagine David Montgomery is pleased as heck to get out of Chicago. Detroit certainly has the opportunity here to make a playoff push, while Chicago is already playing out the string.

My jaw dropped watching that deep throw to Aiyuk. The receiver was blanketed by 4 different DBs as Purdy was releasing the ball, but he was able to anticipate where they would all move and he perfectly led Aiyuk to an open space.

Brock is the real deal. Thanks for sharing. I live for these types of videos.

It's not his fault he landed in the best possible situation perhaps in the entire league.

To add to it, he's finally wearing the uniform combo that ISU should have as its regular look.

It's magic.
Idk what's worse? Looking like the Chiefs currently or the Niners. Barf!
