49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

Hey everyone! Thanks for approving me to comment on your forum. I’m a huge 49ers fan and someone shared this thread on the forum I go on.

It’s cool to see how much love the Iowa State fan base has for Brock Purdy. He’s awesome and beloved by the 49er fan base, as well.

I didn’t pay much attention to him when we originally drafted him but he started make noise in camp. When I saw him go in during the dolphins game - you could just tell that there was something special about him. The command he had, his football IQ, confidence etc.. you just don’t see that in any young player usually. Sometimes I forget he’s barely played 10 games cause he looks so much like a veteran.

I’ve studied some of his college film and it’s clear in hindsight how his game was so well prepared for the pros. I really think the 49ers stumbled into a special player and couldn’t be more excited about Brock. My girlfriend bought me his jersey back in June - feels like the first time we’ve had a true franchise guy since Steve young. I couldn’t be more thrilled.

I’m curious, as a Niner fan, what is your fan base’s impression of Grant Cohn, who seems to be a Niner beat reporter who hates Brock. How influential is he among the Niner fans?

He is widely considered a complete dipsh!t and not taken seriously as a “reporter” at all. He only does what he thinks will generate click bait and controversy. His father was a long time columnist and was similar. Cohn is widely considered a joke and used as the butt of a lot of jokes.

Brock Purdy is a god damn national treasure.

Brock sets a franchise record for completion percentage this week. Grant Cohn says that Brock is "improving". He can't even admit when Purdy has a great game. I would post the video link, but I don't want to give that clown any clicks.

Good. He goes after Brock which doesn’t sit well with us. We would prefer to leave a flaming bag of dog sh*t on his front step.

Cohn was gushing over Brock until the off season hit. He needed to generate clicks so he started talking about how Trey Lance should be the starter etc to get him clicks during a slow off season. His takes are worthless and even the 49ers players have asked for him to not be allowed at practices in the past because he instigates the players. I really don’t even know why he’s allowed, but most fans think he is a clown. At least anyone who knows anything about football.

Brock has set Tons of 49ers franchise and/or NFL records. He has the longest streak in nfl history to start a career for a qb not only winning, but throwin 2+ touchdowns and a 95 or higher qb rating.

I believe he has 2, possibly 3, jerseys/cleats/balls in the hall of fame already for setting records.

He’s special. Couldn’t be more grateful for us to have him. He has that unique personality where he’s humble and genuine, but extremely competitive. He rides that fine line of being aggressive yet responsible with the ball. He knows he’s surrounded by a lot of talent and doesn’t need to try and do more than neccessary - he can just ease into it all and be himself. He has ice in his veins.

He’s on pace to break a lot of single season 49ers passing records, which is impressive since we’ve had Joe montana and Steve young. I’m really hoping he can take us all the way this year. I really think he would have if he didn’t get injured last year.

I’m not sure how many on here know the story but in the 2022 off season, Kyle shanahan told his staff that he wanted to draft a young qb to groom in the background. So steve slowik and Brian Griese (49ers QB coach) started doing their homework on the QBs in the draft. They just fell in love with Brock and said they wanted him over everyone else. They put a fourth round grade on him (in hindsight is super low. Should of been a first).

Only reason they didn’t draft him sooner was because of team needs but as the draft was coming to an end, Griese and slowik was banging the table for Brock. They decided to use their last pick on him so they wouldn’t lose out on him in UDFA. Might be their best pick ever. Lol

Earlier before the draft, the 49ers signed a backup with guaranteed $2M.
During camp, he was getting like 3 reps a day, barely anything. But he was impressing the coaches with how he executed them. Then he shined during pre season. So the team decided to cut the guy they signed for a guaranteed $2M and ate it, just to keep Brock.

Also, when CMC was first traded to the 49ers - Brock is the one he worked with in their free time to learn the system. Mccaffery was super impressed with Brock at that time.

The vets like Trent Williams and Fred Warner were telling the coaches during Brock’s rookie training camp how Brock was a stud and keep an eye on him.

It’s just such an amazing story and he seems like it couldn’t of happened to better guy. Like I said, as a fan - I couldn’t be more grateful for Brock. Very excited about the future

I am a lifelong die hard Vikings fan, and if they would’ve faced off in the playoffs last year I genuinely don’t know who I would’ve cheered for. Brock has made me a 49er fan and I would not have thought that possible just 12 months ago. Bang bang niner gang

We're so extremely fortunate that Brock chose Iowa State. He was and is an amazing ambassador for our Cyclones and we love him to death. And as you've probably noticed, a lot of us have become 49ers fans due to Brock. Many on here, including myself, have bought his 49ers jersey and I just picked up a 49ers sweat shirt last week as 49ers will be my second team going forward (Chiefs first and foremost). Can't wait to see them take on the Cowboys!
