Iowa Beat Writers

I saw some Instagram post (with likely zero data behind it) that had % of fans who attended the school they are fans of. It had eiu at 74% or something like that. It HAS to be way below 50%, doesn't it? I mean, maybe 25%?

That was done by Big Game Boomer and I think every one of those percentages is made up. I don't even know how you'd be able to calculate that.

You'd be suprised how much time you can save running a fan site when you remove objectivity, context, realism, perspective etc.

It's funny because my Hawkeye friends used to all subscribe to 247 but they all dropped their subscriptions because Eickholt is such a homer and passes along so much bad info. They can't stand the unbiased takes.

Your friends must be the minority because if there is a fan base that eats up biased takes, it's hawk fans.

Just heard Eickholdt on KXNO and I have to say he had a surprisingly accurate assessment of Iowa's offensive ineptitude and didn't hold back for once. You know it's bad when he's finally jumped ship.

Must have had it backwards. 74% not attending sounds right. Although many Tshirt fans and Kirkwood fans believe they may have attending Iowa bu actually dreaming they did.

"How do you write like a hawk beat writer so well?"

"I think of a journalist and take away reason and accountability."

If I'm an Iowa fan, everyday I'm hoping that Kirk finally announced his retirement at years end. Its not going to change with him in charge and they need to start preparing for the future. If they don't, they will just have another Fran on their hands. Doing just good enough to not get fired, but also never breaking through the ceiling.

I feel like their beat writers never talk about what's next for the program to the point it seems like they care about the success of Kirk than they do for the success of Iowa.

Give it a week. After they win next, he'll be back to full chode-sucking mode and have some weird rationale why they are greatest one-loss team in the country.

All the factors coinciding at the end of this year (Brian's contract, West going away, NIL in full force) feels like the perfect time to go out. I'd be surprised if he made it to next year.

I thought the same thing until I saw he's only 16 wins away from passing Woody Hayes as the all time winningest Big Ten coach. He'll hit that next year regardless of schedule. Might get an 'I'm retiring at the end of next year' deal where they name LeVar Woods coach in waiting and he doesn't have to fire his kid.

Copied from my post in Iowa recruiting thread (16 wins ties Woody).

KF is in a conundrum. He needs 17 more B1G wins to move into #2 in conference wins ahead of Woody Hayes. Assuming he gets 7 more this year that means he probably needs two more seasons minimum (I guess they could go 8-1 this year and 9-0 next). Ironically, that will probably cost him the 0.600 win percentage he needs for the college HOF. He can't get both unless he can go 8-4 or better the next two years when the schedule should get tougher. He will probably be at 0.5967 after this year.

If he stays through the 2025 season, he will need at least 224 wins to be 0.600. He is at 201, so the countdown is 23. Say he gets 7 this year, that leaves 16, thus the 8-4 or better required. If he leaves after next year, he needs 216 but he would have to go 8-1 this year and 9-0 next year to get the 17 B1G wins.

So, his options are:
#2 in B1G wins OR 0.600 win percentage which qualifies for the college HOF. Doesn't appear he can do both unless he can go 9-3 or so for next several seasons AFTER this current year.
