***WBB: 2024 Recruiting Thread***

Prince is visiting this weekend along with 2 current commits.
For 2024 Aili Tanke Guard and Reagan Wilson PG would be her companions if this visit is in fact happening.

My BIL, a big but fair and astute Hawk Fan whose opinion I value, made the comment that any highly-rated player for Iowa at the same position as the Golden One will need to take a back seat to her. His eyebrow raised as he added, "Do you know any great player willing to do that?"

Not much buzz on the Iowa board regarding Prince. Quite a bit of chatter about another Top 100 PG, Aaliyah Guyton. On paper it looks like Iowa is the best of Guyton's Top Five IMHO.

With that said, a scoring PG with a good three (which she apparently has) could easily play guard next to Clark for a year and score a BUNCH. It's not like Prince is an assist machine that scores 12 points a game and can only play PG. Would probably be more of an issue at USC with them having either the #1 or #2 PG and player in this years class. She'd likely be playing shooting guard at USC for three years and maybe never get a shot at PG. If she wants to be a PG, ISU would look to be a good choice and would be close home games for family if that is big factor.

#bored on a fall Sunday hot take

She definitely visited as expected. Prince keeps a low profile on social media and I haven't seen pics from the game from anyone else, but Tanke did post a pic of instagram of the three visitors together.

With our class this year gaining experience, Prince would be a great situation to ease into for next season. Ames would be close enough for her family to frequent home games. Her future teammates appear to be a very capable supporting cast, along with fan support, and program history, there is a lot of upside for her. But the national competition is rock solid. So if we really have a shot it appears not as long as to make it an impossibility. To see Britt smiling and hanging with potential future Cyclone teammates is a positive.

CF did post photos on twitter. No Prince, so I'm guessing she wasn't at the game.

Britt may be hustling to take in all her last stops before making her early November decision. Likely ducked out before the game, or arrived thereafter, and off to her next recruitment stop. Not a good sign-not bad either I am hoping.

I also feel like this picture is telling but that may just be me. I still have a good gut feeling about this one.

Back in the day, since she's from Nebraska, I'd have said she was the Husker football game in Lincoln. But you can't say that anymore unless the volleyball team is playing. ;)

Did see Husker WBB hosted Aaliyah Guyton on 9/16, the same guard the Hawkeyes seem to pursuing. Not sure how that plays with Prince, some peeps list Guyton as a PG and others not. Thought I'd toss it out there since both of those schools are the final list with us.

Anyone know if she had visited Ames before or ever been to a game at Hilton? Post here in this thread had her at an unofficial visit two years ago.

I read that about Guyton and see where she gets a 95 rating and just committed to the Hawks: https://www.hawkcentral.com/story/s...ah-guyton-from-illinois-hawkeyes/70965473007/ :mccaffery:

Moved two more verbals to the bottom table -- Walker from last week and Wallace from back in May (somehow missed it).

At this point, Prince and Goryanova appear to be the only two non-transfers that might come to ISU. ISU is on the short list for both (top 11 for Prince and top 8 for Goryanova). In the unlikely scenario both select ISU, it might be a little tight -- we have 14 scholarships spoken for in 2024-25 if all four super-seniors return. But both are outstanding players.

Recent visits:

Goryanova visited Texas A&M and MSU within the past couple of weeks per her instagram. Rest of top 8: ISU, Louisville, WVU, Cal, Auburn, Baylor.

Prince visited ISU this past weekend of course. Again, she keeps a low profile on social media so there's not much out there. I can't find any references to other recent visits. Rest of top 11: Nebraska, Creighton, Iowa, Indiana, Oklahoma, Oregon, UNC, Baylor, USC, Louisville.

Was Wilson also recruited as a PG? If so, does that impact Prince's decision? I would think it would since we already have a freshman PG and a soph PG on this year's team in Jackson and Dawkins respectively. I think Prince is probably the best player out of the four, so it would suck if she goes elsewhere because of the (perceived) log jam at her position.

From the Register after her commitment: "Wilson described herself as a pass-first point guard who isn’t afraid to take shots either."

We've never been afraid to put two PG/combo guards out there at the same time. Two pass-first PGs might be an issue, but Prince is a big scorer. She could be more like Donarski, or maybe she splits time more evenly between PG and SG. Also, while there is certainly talent in Dawkins, Jackson, and Wilson, none of them are top-100 types. This isn't Caitlin Clark deciding whether to pick ISU when Ryan, Donarski, Feuerbach, and Aubrey Joens are already in the class.
