Growing up a Cyclone fan and being 50 years old. I always had a backup team to root for when we suck. Which was most years when I was younger. I always rooted for Bama and Miami. For the most part I wanted to root for a team that could win. So what is your backup team for seasons like this?

I like them. Hope they do good. Their fans are very similar to ours. Lots of hole with not a huge payoff

They're the left out team and I want the Pac 12 to do well anyway just because it will look stupid that they broke up the conference from an actual results perspective.

None for college, just the Packers on Sundays.

Being in Denver following Colorado a little closer, but wouldn’t say I’m cheering for them

If you root for two college teams (especially a team you have no connection to, undergrad/grad is different) I lose respect for you

It doesn’t bother me as much as it might’ve used to; we’ve made college sports a business so why not find some entertainment?

That being said, I do agree it’s a little weird for college. I don’t have another team because I can’t work up an emotional connection for anyone other than ISU

Illinois and thats it. I do root for Tennessee because I was whisker hair from going there.

Otherwise the STL RedBirds

TBH the NFL has become a lot more fun considering you don't have to wonder if half your team is getting bought away by the 4 teams in the conference finals or wonder if you're just waiting on the news of the Packers, Patriots, 49ers, Steelers, and Cowboys to leave you in the dust so you can never watch your favorite team play meaningful games again

I guess I cheer for Duke football though. Their QB is fun and killing one of the annoying dynasty teams is a good way to make me like you
