Can Someone tell me why...

Nice deflection… It was in response to an accusation about our talent level… So no, no participation trophy, but I can bet you they use it on the recruiting trail a lot… which is actually better wouldn’t you think?!
And that’s gotten you slightly above average with consistency, yet far from great. Well done.

Sage mentioned in his podcast that one of the ways to help beat Iowas coverage is by running post patterns, especially with play action to suck up the safeties.

In a podcast last year, Sage mentioned that play action is still effective even if the running game isn’t effective and is very helpful for a quarterback.

LOL….That’s a super typical bitter Iowa State/Iowa fan type comment. We’ve got guys on our site that say the same kind of stupid ****.

Moss did fall in the end zone and he was on him because we moved him there and the year before he had 3 catches.

Pretty much most of the defensive backs Iowa has put in the NFL over the years stick for several years. Some have moved to safeties, but you’re hoping they flamed out hasn’t been true…

Sorry
Who is this retread?

TCU sure did get pasted by Georgia, now who did they beat the game before to get to the game? Oh, I remember the Big Easy champ, Michigan.

No, EIU does not have 10 to 15 level talent year to year, I know you are putting a lot of lineman in the NFL, when was the last time an EIU WR caught a pass, an EIU running back carried the ball or a QB throw a pass?

Just waiting for you to bring it up… These are always one of my favorite conversations…

Lets start with ISU having the best QB, 2 best Rbers & best Wr of our two schools currently in the league… more on that later.

I’m gonna apologize in advance because I’m gonna come off a little dickish here but I am literally baffled not just by you and your fans but also by ours when they use such easily disputable ********…..

Michigan kind of pounded Ohio State 45–23… And TCU pouded you guys…

Yet Iowa, with what I think you and I can both agree was one of the most challenged offenses in the last 10 years of college football, who gave their defense no support, somehow held Michigan to 27 points. Do you happen to remember how many points Michigan scored against TCU….45

But that’s actually tiddlywinks ****… because it’s just isolated one game scores, but we do know Michigan scored 45 versus TCU and 27 verse Iowa, that we know.

And remember you brought this up, as a defense of all things?!

Before the playoffs started, I turned to my buddies who all agreed, “you know Ohio states the better team don’t you… “

They all agreed and I said, I think they’ll beat Georgia… Well, it turns out they didn’t but it was a hell of a game, but Ohio State and Georgia were way better teams than Michigan or TCU….

But here is where comparative scoring gets stupid…..

In 2009, a week after beating you guys 24-23 K-St lost to TT 66-14….

The next weekend K-st beat A&M 62-14

Crazy right?! But then a week later A&M beats TT (at 9-4, the best of the lot) 52-30….

Now what does it all mean? Not one absolute freaking thing…

And now, here, is what really crystallized comparing scores for me… Back when Cleveland and Golden State were playing each other every year… During Cleveland’s championship run, they lost on like a Tuesday at Golden State by like 32 points. 2 days and a different gymnasium later they won by 34. How the F does that happen…

So if you’re telling me TCU scoring 51 points against Michigan is meaningful, then I’m gonna have to tell you, Michigan scoring 45 against them was pretty meaningful because TCU hadn’t given up that much in a game all year until Georgia blitzed them…Michigan didn’t avg 45 pts a game vs Big 10 defense?

Again, remember you brought up the stupid comparative score ****…

Ultimately, if you’re trying to figure out how much talent a team has on a year to year basis, you can look at recruiting rankings or you can look at how much talent they’re sitting on to the highest level of their profession….

Here is what we know….

As I already said, You guys have the best quarterback in the NFL between our two schools. You have the best two running backs between our two schools and you have the best wide receiver between our two schools by a long way I’d say.

Yet what is your record against us the last 8-10 years? Now we could say we have a better coach, but come on we know that’s not true KF sucks, right?

There must be a different metric, we could use…

Hmmmm…. Well let’s see Iowa State has 11 players in the NFL total many of them since Campbell’s got there so they have improved their talent level.

Iowa has 29 with seven more on scout teams! And I’m sure your narrative is it’s all offensive lineman, because God knows we’ve been doing a really good job along the offensive line the last few years Doh!!!

But in reality, it’s TEs, OL and a **** ton of DBs, Linbackers and DLs..

It’s not complicated you have to have the players… And incidentally for the record TCU has 19 Michigan I haven’t counted recently but they are somewhere in the low 30s to mid 30s the big three I’ve talked about all have 50+

TCU isn’t nearly on the level of play of the Ohio states & the Georgias

Let me ask you a question what do you think Iowas winning percentage ranks over the last 10 years in all of college football….

It is certainly above average.

This is about defense, I thought this whole thread was about defense, I started by saying good things about Iowa States defense, and how much talent they have begun to accrue over there and then a few of you guys got offended because Iowa has a lot of talent on the defense. You apparently don’t want that to be true.!

Sorry, but it is true and they have won a lot of games…Just because of THAT defense.

This whole diatribe started because a couple of you wanna pretend like Iowa doesn’t have a very good defense and they only have one because they play in the Big Ten west and I have pretty successfully shown that to be complete ********… And there are a number of your own fans in here that have seen that, actually already knew that and apparently don’t get their panties in a wad when it’s mentioned!

You play in a historically putrid division but congrats I guess.

Thanks….but you clearly don’t follow much C-football. There have been a lot of questionable divisions in college football, namely, the entirety of the ACC until the very most recent year or two now that it looks like Florida State might be OK again and maybe Miami… Otherwise, it’s been pretty much, just Clemson & the Pac 12 has been no big shakes until this year ( didn’t they go Ofer the bowls for one whole year & not much better the next) so sure I’m actually OK with that. Thanks.

You’d actually be shocked by our average schedule strength over the last 5-6 years.

A high of 35th and a low of 10th… But I know that doesn’t fit your narrative. Sorry for bringing it up.

Oh I so hoped you’d do that….

This is from team rankings a very reputable site and you can sort it over the last 10-15 whatever years…

As a general rule, I don’t love rivalries & fans, per se, in particular, I don’t like arguing with Iowa State fans, because in my opinion, your fan base is the spitting image of ours… A bunch of buffoons (the intelligent, insightful guys withstanding) but you guys that continually prop yourselves up by pretending like Iowa isn’t really that good.

I greatly enjoy talking to you guys!

The vast majority on here acknowledge that Iowa has a solid defense Y/Y/. Your goal of proving that to every last ISU fan will not be accomplished.

You didn't answer my question, when was the last time a QB from EIU throw a TD pass in the regular season, a RB ran for a yard, or a WR caught a pass? No one is saying that TCU is on the level of Ohio State or Georgia, so stop saying they are. But we do know that when TCU faced Michigan in the playoff, it was TCU that advanced.

Ah, shucks, us dumb ISU fans are just falling into your traps over an over. Kudos, to you. I can’t speak for everyone on here, but I am awed by your wit, talent and command of this thread.

Josh Jackson still sucks!

Iowa has trouble with purdue because purdue doesn't bang their head against a wall and try to run into the strength of the iowa defense for 4 quarters. Purdue goes 4 or 5 wide and spreads them out. Iowa is forced to change personnel or have their oversized linebackers cover tes or wrs and purdue carves them up. Why we refuse to try this or literally any other gameplan is hard for me to understand.

That's also typically Purdue's offense.
