Okay, so I looked it up. Turns out that Tyler Perkins is actually…SECOND in FBS in punting. Gasp! Moan! Despair!

Okay, so he has almost twice as many attempts as the first place guy, but…the horror! Fire CMC and that Langes guy!!!

Perkins has a cannon for a leg, no doubt. He lacks some touch when it comes to sticking it inside the 20 with a short field, but he can flip field position when our offense sputters on its own 20 which is huge for this team.

I thought he had a great freshman year last year, but a lot of posters couldn't get over the Iowa game.

Given he lacks a bit of touch (you can see it on the field but also in the stats) but can outkick just about anybody, I'd like to see him try and angle out of bounds some. Teams have gone away from that strategy over the past 15 years and are relying on the bounce being just right but very few punters and fields can do that.

Dude has an absolute cannon of a right leg but he really really needs to work on his touch. Tory Taylor is so great because he can pin teams within their own ten yard line consistently. Perkins is an NFL punter if he can do that.

I agree, thought he was rough against SEMO and Iowa, but picked it up and was respectable the rest of the way. God knows he got plenty of live game reps last year.

Honestly if he’s punting from our side of the 50 anything in the end zone works. Obviously pinning them on the 5 is ideal, but going 80 yards this D is tough.

Disagree with the touch comment. If we’re across the 50, we should be going for it on 4th down. Less need for touch from the punter inside your own territory. Let em fly.

Our defense is more than capable of supporting an aggressive game plan.
