What’s going at Casey’s?

It's supposedly delivered differently to McDonalds too. In steel tanks vs plastic bags. And their whole setup is different from most other fast food places.

I've also read somewhere that their mix of carbonation to syrup is slightly different too because they assume the ice will melt and dilute the mixture to their preferred mix.

Yep, and something about pre-chilling and using special filtration on the water makes it a totally different experience than you get elsewhere. Even the straw size they use is factored into it.

As is their iced tea and coffee. Will never understand people spending 5x for Starbucks when McD's is so good.
Their unsweetened tea feels slimey to me. It just feels weird whenever I drink it. Taste is fine though. The coffee I wouldn't put in the good category, but definitely in the inoffensive category. And sometimes that's all I need.

Agree completely. I prefer the general texture too. Sometimes the whole pizza slices get too doughy on the crust and the individual ones are always right on.
I agree based on my experiences too, that single slices are better than whole pie slices. But wonder why it is? Should it not be cooked the same way, same recipe etc? It has to basically boil down to how they cut it I would think.

That's not just Casey's it happens all the time at Kum and Go too. These stores all expect Pepsi and Coke to take care of things and hold almost no backfill inventory. The beverage business absolutely PAMPERS stores to the point where the stores won't even restock their own shelves.

Stores have plenty of back stock inventory. Employees just don’t stock. Also when it comes to fountain soda, in my experience it’s the store managers to take care of that order while the pepsi/coke etc rep takes care of the actual soda/beverage orders.

Lost in all of my other complaining is the new rewards program. I hate rewards programs but I like free pizza. Now when you check out, they ring everything up, then you wait 15 seconds, then they say okay enter your rewards number. Then you pay after that. I can stand in line at QuikTrip behind four people and be checked out before I would be checked out in a Casey's with zero customers.

Why do I have to wait until the end of the transaction to enter my number? Just let me punch it in! Gaaaahhhhh

QT does it too. Plus they won't shut up. Just ring me up and stop trying to sell me whatever you're putting on sale that day.

I agree the rewards program, it straight up sucks. Spend $20? here's $0.10 worth of rewards points or so it seems. The service sucks, most of the food is over priced, or sucks, and the gas seems to suck to as well. I've had it seem watery to me before and I've herd the same from a few people. Kwik Star or the local coop for gas for me.

The pizzas made for by the slice sales follow a different ingredient table than the normal pizzas. For me Casey's is a "less is more" pizza. When you start adding too many veggies or toppings, the pizzas don't cook through and become really soupy. The by the slice pizzas are trimmed back toppings wise which IMO is why they tend to be better.

That's the general rule I follow with all pizza. Usually no more than 3 toppings for me if I am building my own. But even some of the menu item pizzas at restaurants that have a lot of toppings, usually don't hold up for me.

Speaking of Quick Trip, their store clerks/cashiers run circles around Casey’s. Usually QT has one store clerk that can run two registers at the same time and they move quickly.
QT's point of sale system is crazy quick and efficient too. I feel like everything at Casey's takes forever.

Partly because they don't require PIN entry if your purchase amount is low and your bank card is back by Visa/Mastercard. Every other place has 20 questions you have to answer and then PIN entry if you want to do debit. QT is scan your items, inset your card, wait for the beep, and see you next time. 22nd ST in WDM QT is great. About the only place in my area that still has roller food. As bad as it probably is for me, I still want it now and then.
