I agree but on the other hand, I remember a time (20 years ago?) when the Big XII was considered at parity with the SEC, We're not at that level anymore, but we're still strong enough that a winning conference record is nothing to sneeze at.
Big 12 Texas beat PAC 12 USC for the NC not so long ago. Undefeated Auburn of the SEC did not make the game.
You are right. Noel did get open before he got it. As quickly as Rocco looks right, and he does so very early, leads me to believe this was his "safe route" in practice. I have a hard time believing it wasn't talked about, practiced, or preached for it to be that instinctual.
That's just a terrible route to even have on that particular play, against this team, and with a freshman QB. When you go back and watch the route trees we do NOTHING to pull linebackers or defensive backs into having to commit, or break early. The only reason Noel was open was because the high coverage was soft, something Rocco couldn't really anticipate until it happened. If he wasn't looking right at Noel when he came free it would have been hard for him to re-survey and hit him when he became open. But that route is a pick 6 waiting to happen. So why even have it in their.
Regardless we both agree the entire play was abysmal and a lot of things should have been done differently.

For the most part, your criticisms are stupid. Most people last year believed he stuck with a poor offensive coordinator too long. That problem seems to have been fixed. We've had better recruiting the past four or five years than any time since the 70s, but we don't have a roster full of 4 and 5-star players. Apart from last year with the aforementioned problems on offense, our performance has been pretty good. Perhaps you'd be happier as an Ohio State fan.
You are so smart that you said Campbell’s Conference Records were enhanced by the demise of the Missouri and Nebraska programs……..despite the fact they both left the Big 12 years before Campbell got to Iowa State. And Campbell has not played either team while at Iowa State.

Haven't seen enough of the new OC to know what is and is not good yet. I didn't expect a wholesale offensive change, we don't have the guys for that. Think we can run the air raid with our current receiving core and yet another new QB? Full spread? We'd get killed doing something like that. Slowing the game down and adding more plays and series for opponents without our offense actually netting much. There's a reason we play ball control style football... that's how you stay close and win games with inferior talent.
We need to see better execution of the run game. Some of that is on the newer RBs, but the most of it is on OL and TE blocking. That's our next obvious steps to leveling up. Bonus if Rocco himself becomes a legitimate running threat -- that's one thing JJ did very well in his few snaps -- took free yards upfield when they were there.

We have a new coordinator and they still insist on going shotgun and handing the ball off to a player with no momentum 5 yards behind the LOS when we need a couple feet.
We didn’t need to do a hurry up vs Iowa. We needed to score, stop their offense, get the ball back, and score again. We had a chance to do all of that. I’ll continue to trust the man getting paid millions to run the program, not some madden all star.
With how good Iowa’s defense is, if we ran a hurry up and went 3 and out, burning 20 seconds off the clock, that only hurts our defense. …our defense that we have to heavily lean on to win games for us this year. Stick to your recliner.
