I thought about Hendricks. He seems to consistently only give us 5, but I really wonder about his ability to come in after 3. Open to hearing that I’m wrong though…Also possible he becomes an opener for Hendricks. Dude is putting up Cy Young numbers after the first 13 batters of the game but looks like me out there until then.
I think he's going to get a shot at leadoff.Had to do it with Candelario banged up. Belli at 1B and PCA in CF for the stretch.
The question becomes lineup? How does this look?
Tauchman DH
Hoerner 2B
Suzuki RF
Bellinger 1B
Swanson SS
Happ LF
PCA CF
Catcher
Madrigal 3B
Let’s ******* do this!
Arizona and Colorado with huge outfields. They brought him up to lock it down.Probably a good time to inject new life in Cubs offense. The hot hitting of Suzuki has over shadowed Tauchman falling off. He's hit .237 for Aug and only .194 for Sep.
That's on top of Wisdom, Morel and Candelario having their roles reduced or struggling to hit.
Hope they bring him up to play vs pinch hit or start once a week
Jed calling up another top prospect in the middle of a hot streak for a field trip to big league team.
I really don't see any way PCA gets the Canario treatment. He may not start everyday but he'll get his fair share of starts imo.
As much as I wanted to see Canario get a shot, PCA is a much different level prospect.
If I had to guess, he'll come off the bench tonight and start tomorrow. If you are going to call a guy up like PCA at this point of the season you better damn well play him nearly every day. If he gets anything but this and is just a pinch hit/pinch run and occasional start its mismanaging the top prospect in the organization and a guy most have ranked a top 10 or 15 overall in all of MLB. Yes Canario is not a top 100 guy but part of that also is because he missed nearly a year due to injury and already was slated to play in the Arizona Fall League. He is still just 23 and was tearing it up at Iowa when they called him up. I didn't expect him to play every day but thought for sure he'd get a start in one of the double header games and at least more than just the 1 PH AB he's gotten so we basically gave him a week and a half vacation with the big league to cool off the hot streak he was on. There is no other way to spin it other than they botched it by calling up Canario with no intent to play him.
What sucks is games 1 and 3 of this Rockies series they face LHP so does Ross throw PCA in the mix right away tonight or wait until a righty is on the mound tomorrow? I'm not a big fan of the righty vs lefty lineups and it sure hasn't worked out well this season when Ross has tinkered to load up with some of our woeful right handed hitters so would rather just throw the kid right out there tonight and see what he's made of. If he's the stud we plan on him to be can't be handling him with kid gloves he's going to need to face guys throwing from either side when he's an everyday player.
He won't be activated until tomorrow. If I had to guess, he'll come off the bench tonight and start tomorrow.
And my whole point about Canario is I think they are different scenarios and I don't expect PCA to be used that way just because he was.
I saw that initially but wasn't sure if it had been confirmed. I would guess he starts tomorrow in that scenario. He won't be activated until tomorrow.
