Fans In the Stands and in the Tailgating Lots

Has anyone ever been to Kinnick and seen ISU fans act like douches?
I was a football manager in college and the two trips to Iowa City I had some of the worst things ever said to me by Hawk fans but I have pretty thick skin so didn’t bother me at all. Funniest one was hearing “Hey (my name)… **** YOU!” and I turned around and it was my Hawkeye cousin lol

I'm as big of a hawk hater as anyone but I have to be honest. We have a big tailgate and even bigger for the Cy-Hawk as a lot of friends come who are iowa fans as well. Everyone was respectful before and after the game.

We needed a ticket for my son so he used my ticket and I sat with my hawk buddy in his visitor section seats. I never had a single issue and talked a lot about the game, JTS and other stuff with the big hawk fan next to me who I had never met before. Didn't have anyone talk smack to me or get upset when I stood up and cheered - which I do a lot.

I have had problems with hawk fans at Kinnick and JTS before but I didn't have any Saturday.
Did you try to fight them when they didn’t dance for juicy wiggle? My oldest had a hawk fan want to fight him because he supposedly didn’t wave long enough at kinnick. We were in the ISU section also.

What are you trying to do here? I related my experience FOR THIS GAME. I have had plenty of **** encounters with hawk fans and I haven't been shy about relating them. As such I shouldn't be shy about relating when I actually have a largely respectable game day.

I'll never go back to Kinnick and I don't understand those that do.
2 years ago a hawk fan got in my youngest sons face, 14 at the time, at he end of the game. He was just sitting there and this douche figured he could take a 14 yo. When I noticed what was going on and looked at him, he ran up the steps.

Based on the looks I got from the people in the Sukup Club that were content to sit on their hands and drink their beer, I keep expecting to see something about me in these threads.

I just don’t understand how you can go to a game and not care/be invested in what’s going on

No. It’s good you had a solid experience. I was making a point that we don’t harass fans for not going gaga over our traditions unlike them.

The Hawkeye fanbase does have the highest percentage of bad fans I've encountered, but I also realize that is very likely the case because the Hawkeye fanbase is the one I encounter the most.

I've gone to many NFL games as a fan of the road team. The actions from fans of the home team toward me make even bad Hawkeye fans look like saints.
I'm sure ISU has some bad apples, but I haven't encountered them in my travels. I haven't lived in Iowa since 2009, and the Hawkeye fans I come across in other states who tell me to F*** off because they see I have an ISU shirt on is too many to count. It's completely unprovoked. They really are the worse fan base.

Fair enough. Actually the hawk fan I was sitting next to (not my buddy, but on the other side of me) said he loves JTS - as a Chiefs fan it reminds him of Arrowhead. He was also impressed with Juicy Wiggle and the student section.

One of the Hawk turds near us said the stadium was full of pussies that didn’t cheer. Didn’t KKKirk call three time outs because of noise?

I’m sure Campbell could absolutely hear him yelling crap about his family from the top row of the upper deck in the SW corner.

making personal remarks makes a personal the lowest form of life.

He’ll probably visit Buckingham Palace and yell “Go Patriots” at King Chuck. Followed by “Go Hawks.”
I’ve had people ask if I’m from Iowa and then say they are hawk fans. Never have issues with them. The go hawk fans nearly always yell, giggle at themselves like they really got me, and walk away.

I have been in Texas for awhile now and have had numerous pleasant conversations with ISU fans by initiating the conversation with a Go Hawks. It has always been met with a smile and something along the lines of "oh you are one of those". Time permitting we have a brief conversation about our ties to Iowa and go about our day.

And I have had ISU fans initiate conversations with me by giving me a "hard" time about the Iowa hat I was wearing. It has always been good natured and said with a smile.
Does not surprise me that you are one of those fans. Kudos to those ISU fans for putting up with your crap and still being civil.

Just because it has worked out for you at times does not mean it still isn't a **** thing to do.
