*** Official Iowa vs IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Lol, is that a serious question? I expect to not get our asses kicked by iowa in the 1st half. I expect my team to show up mentally ready to play. I expect my team to not give up huge offensive plays to an awful offense.

You know who (correctly) treats this game as a Super Bowl? The opponent does. And they are barely breaking a sweat beating down little brother.
Calm down and have another beer. There are a TON of younger players on offense playing their first big game and against a top 5 rated defense nevertheless. I’m not sure why you thought the team would be explosive offensively

This is exactly the way not to play Iowa, and like every single year Campbell decides to do it anyways. Throwing short out routes and getting behind the sticks is just begging for interceptions, and yet we do it all the time. Not to mention a complete inability to catch the ball. Putting all the pressure on your defense will not win you games, like we saw last year
Campbell is not impressive. I hope for major changes in the 2nd half, but why call all these poor offensive calls in the 1st half. Wasting a great defense.

We had a starting NFL QB on our roster and he got worse every season under this HC and we could never win the conference. That was as good as it's ever going to get under Campbell; we've already peaked, ladies and gents.
I know I miss being last nearly every year like all of his predecessors

We knew our offense was bad. We thought the special teams was better. We are a missed kick and a really poor decision on the pick 6 away from a 10-6 game. But you don’t win in the margins this way.
Well its really 3 plays in that first half that made it this way.
1. Higgins not catching that TD
2. PI on Purchase (Right call by the rules, but a tough one to go against you)
3. Pick 6

Unfortunately there are usually 5-8 plays a game that will determine that outcome, and we have been on the wrong side of them today.

I refuse to get negative, although we deserve the criticism.

If we don't come back this game, so be it. I'll keep watching the games quietly.

We will lose fans fairly soon though, unless we play all out, hells bells, aggressive FB. We don't have the players yet, maybe never will, enough to go toe to toe with most.

When will we just chuck it?

Matt Campbell has been a great coach for ISU. But his teams struggle against Iowa. It might be smart to bring back Dan McCarney or Paul Rhoads to coach the games against Iowa.

And get Iowa to be bad or average outside of 2002.

dislike all you want

dislike all you want but its the truth
I think some of you may let your Iowa friends and co-workers get to you a little too much. I want to win every game, but this one doesn’t mean more than any other of you don’t get caught up in that…and we do have a very young team. No reason to get rid of the best coach we’ve had because he struggles to beat one team…and a non-con game to boot…

Why is it ok for the Cyclones to only score 6 points?

I mean. I hate to say it, but we are a bunch of pussies (I don’t care if this makes X or whatever). It’s not like we are the smaller team. Just *****.
It is pure Coaching on the offense, promoting Nate was a terrible idea. Ya lets get the guy who learnt under the worst OC Tom manning and make him OC. It was just so that Campbell can say he made a change.
