Jamie Pollard statement regarding ticket scanning process during home opener

While on the bridge, people were saying that the north entrance was closed. Was that true? Perhaps people were just overreacting to the number of people on the ramp that runs along the northeast portion of the stadium and merges with the east entrance.

It appeared to be open.

Not trying to pick a fight, just legit amazed. You have gotten cell service at Jack Trice in prior years!? No one I have EVER talked to - family, friends, acquaintances, etc - has ever gotten service at JTS, other than randomly spotty slow service every once in a blue moon. Sincerely, really happy for you!

This past Saturday I had great service the entire game. First time I can remember. On the bridge during a 45 minute+ wait, at concessions, at our seats. I honestly couldn’t believe how amazing the cell coverage was basically the entire time I was in the stadium. iPhone 14 Pro here.
I have US cellular and service was pretty good last year, borderline great this year. Big improvement, as I basically had no service prior to last year (couldn’t even check scores on ESPN app).

I get the liability concern with alcohol passing, but that wall needs to come down. Would be miserable sitting there.

It was open the whole time I believe, just sometimes progress was slow with the scanners.

In a nutshell my electronics device was supposed to talk to the Universities electronic device and then give me credit for having purchased a ticket. For whatever reason that failed to happen in several instances yesterday. Worked some times but not nearly often enough. Did not work in my case. Why was that? Most people have taken the stance blame the university, or blame the folks with the phones that do not know how to use them.

I am an old guy and do not know nearly enough about how all this stuff works. I used electronic tickets last year and had absolutely no trouble with my tickets. Tried to do everything exactly the same this year but it did not work. Why?

Today I asked someone that knows a lot about this stuff as it’s his every day job. His response surprised in one way, but probably not in another. He said it was probably my fault my phone did not “talk“to the scanner. You see this is a different process than last year. What worked last year is not enough for things to work this year. More than likely the reason my phone could not work with the scanner is because I did not have blue tooth turned on. News to me, didn’t have to do that last year. So that is the change I intend to make for this coming game. I’ll bet it solves my problem. My guy knows more than me. JMO

Ok cool. I gave up my season this year because it’s been more of a hassle the past couple of years and honestly I enjoyed watching the game on TV. Change is good but the changes they have made aren’t my style‍♂️

i don't think so as I believe you could see a trickle of people walking up the ramp to the stadium the entire time. I can see how someone waiting in line, and then coming over to the east side would say the gate was closed as it seemed like it because the absolute lack of movement in the line.

Looks like section 19 about row 10 to 12, seats 11 and 12. At least I mine is row 14 and I am four seats away from the wall, and therefore did not get the glare because of the angle.

Totally waste of money and screwing over the fans in the section. If you think you need to put something like this up to stop passing of drinks, then tell those of us in the section before we renewed our season tickets, allowing us to move to the west where it was not a problem.
Lol so you actually are my seat neighbors. Small world, my parents have the two on the end in row 14.

Side note: they put this thing up so we could look at the half empty Sukup Club. Most of the people who sit in there absolutely kill the atmosphere but that’s another issue.

Many who sit in there are people who raced to their vehicle with 3-5 minutes left in the second quarter to grab a drink and many times not come back in at all.

At least one, me, sat outside from when we got there to when the game was done. That was not a wise move by me.

So how much did the new wall affect their view. If they are on the aisle it may not have been too bad, if they are against the wall it had to be horrible.
Hopefully the take the damn thing down. Remind them to email Pollard about their dislike for the wall, Please.

We got to our seats and immediately left. The glare from that glass was absolutely brutal, and couldn’t see much of the field at all. We went and sat on the hill, and I’m sure the AD is getting an email today

They eliminated the west entrance.
The turnstile had issues and I just walked around it.
Need canopy over kiosk.
They have room to double kiosks with some imagination which has never been an asset.

Were the guy and his wife in row 15 that was raising hell about the wall to your wife and then got up and let, came back and then both of you left? Those two were right against the wall, If so, we talked a few seconds about the wall, I was in the row right in front you to your left.
