Sounds from the stands.

So, I picked new seats this year. Just about everyone in my row weighed 300+ pounds. Being sandwiched next to all of them in 95 degree heat sure was fun.
Had 1 man and 2 women, all UNI fans, sit next to us for about half a quarter. The two women left when we told them we wanted our four seats. They didn’t think that was right since they spilled over into 4.5 seats. They also had seat backs on their seats. They got mad and left then.

This is going to continue to be a problem anywhere with benches. This is basically the reason we pay for seat backs every year.

Two Guys Named Chris covered this last week…the fact is we are bigger people than when these stadiums were originally numbered off.

I haven’t had that experience at JTS but as a slim guy multiple times at Kinnick I’ve had games there where my “seat” is basically one foot of standing sideways.

That's why the best thing you can do is fork over an extra $50 for the permanent seat back cushions. Number 1 it saves your A$$. Bigger yet #2, it guarantees that you have your spot. Spots are still to narrow, but you don't lose your space.

It’s $50 for entire year? That’s a no brainer. If it’s per game that stings but I could see it being still worth it situationally.

I’ve been on west coast long time now, getting out of touch w game day life. I watch the games w coffee and pancakes.

If you buy them when doing your season tickets, it is an extra $50 for the year and they are bolted in place. If you buy them at the game, I think it's $10 (but it's been 3 years) if you buy them at the game and they won't be set on your seat so someone trying to get more width could push over the seat cushion.

$50 per seat for the whole season. Absolutely a great investment to keep your seat space well defined, and keep you from getting crowded out or having to fight for your space.

These people had seat backs. They just wanted to have one of our spots also.

On behalf of the heavy's I'm sorry. When I have seats at an event it never fails that person next to me is as big or bigger.

I've had this issue the last few seasons. I love my spot but don't like the family of four right next to us that all are larger than their four seatbacks and always end up taking most of our seat next to them. And then add in their little kids that they bring in so their is six or seven persons in that four seat area.

Luckily this year the two seats on the other side were open when my seat selection window came up so we slid down two to give us a buffer and it was glorious yesterday.:D

How was the swamp ass yesterday? Those seat backs just cooked it even more.

This was far from the worst game I've been at as far as comfort. Yes it was hot, but it wasn't humid and there was a nice dry breeze out of the S that made it tolerable anyway. I am also on the west side and am sure the east side looking into the sun was worse. Humidity makes it a gazillion times worse.

I do have the seat backs on my seats. I still got the benefit of getting sweaty people rubbing up against me. The same feeling you get when you have the middle seat on a plane and john candy and Chris Farley are sitting with you.

On the plus side, in November it might work to my advantage. However, they will probably be watching at home working on increasing their waistlines for next year.

Yes, the entire year, and now they are bolted down to the bench. ISU isn't known as an engineering school for nothing.;) And improved sell phone reception, with additions on each flag pole and light standards,

When we sat in sec 11 and had seat backs they were bolted - back and seat. The seat was bolted in front though, which meant I had to continually stand up and move it back. I always wished they’d be attached on the back because I tend to sit down and slightly slide forward. That brought the seat cushion with me.
