This is an elite postI believe they have had 'elite' level of practices. And you can throw Tanner in with that elite unit.

One of the football analytic accounts I follow (I think it was Statsbomb?) showed that on average a punt hitting the ground would roll an average of ~5 yds in the punt teams favor. So every time you don't catch the ball, you can estimate losing 5yds of field position.
I think the 2 QB saying is a gross over generalization of the scenarios. If you have 2 QBs early in the season both getting meaningful snaps, that’s not always indicative of both being bad. If you have 2 still sharing time later into conference play, then I think it’s usually too disruptive to the flow of the game for that team, not to mention it leaves the offense without a singular leader.

I'm fairly certain by the end of the UNi game it will be clear who the starting QB is
Since we have a RS freshman and a true freshman battling for the number one QB job, I like the idea of both guys playing early in the season. Since they are both young, the guy that wins could potentially be our guy at QB the next four years. Once one of them is named the starter and the other one is not playing, the gap between the two will likely widen. CMC needs to get this right and make sure we end up with the right guy as our QB.
For what it’s worth, just talked to a friend of Farleys. He (Farley) is extremely confident for this weekend

Well, I would hope, no coach should be doubting their team. Remember when CPR said that Iowa State shouldn't beat Texas? I would hope CMC is confident even if we had to play the KC chiefs on Saturday.
To be fair, any coach would say and feel that way. They are naturally very egotistical people and have alpha characteristics.

I’m not sure that “buried on the depth chart” is an apt descriptor at the moment. It’s not even the first game, the roster (and especially position) is very much in flux—and CMC usually plays quite a few wideouts throughout the season.
And I would expect Coach Langes to have run just about everyone through punt and kickoff return drills, especially since he’s new here. Me? I’d really like to see what the likes of Eli Sanders and Abu Sama could do on KO returns.

2017 was a statistically even game decided by two awful first quarter picks from a first year starting quarterback.

It doesn't. Every coach on earth is confident. Those dudes are just wired different.
It’s a little different when both are freshman 4* recruits with a new OC/QB coach. A game hasn’t even been played yet.
He has a talented and experienced guy at the most important position on the field, vs ISU who has two unknowns. Why not be confident?
I think it is critical to roll up 300 yards rushing AND actually score touchdowns in this game. Dominate and make sure to keep the momentum. Futzing around and keeping it close is a recipe for that QB to make a play.

I'd be thrilled with 400+ total yards, 180+ rushing yards and 31+ points. If that happens I'll be excited about the offense going forward
