Ames Lager

I know Local Craft Cellar in Cedar Rapids/Marion has it, but they close fairly early. I stopped by the Marion Hy-Vee this evening but no luck. Anyone find it anywhere else in the Cedar Rapids area yet?

I got it at Hy-Vee Edgewood earlier today. I’d like to find the Legend corn ale in CR if anyone knows

I talked with the West O guys last night. There is plenty more coming. It is mostly a matter of distribution right now.

As I understand it, West O doesn't decide where it goes. They have to "sell" it to the State for distribution to the stores that order it.

So, if you go to a store and they don't have it, ASK FOR IT. Even offer to pay on the spot for pickup when they get delivery. The stores need to know that you want it and that they are missing out on sales if they don't stock it.

I got mine early this morning just because I wanted bragging rights for getting it first, even though I knew they would be getting more.

In hindsight, this has to be an exponential boost for WestO. Other breweries were insane to turn this down.

There are what feels like 100+ craft brew choices when you go into a nice beer and liquor store. You can’t put a price on what this is doing for their brand on top of the Ames Lager sales.
Good point. To be honest, I wasn’t aware of WestO at all prior to this deal.

I used to only drink when in Boji but I’ve been buying it a lot more when I see it on the shelves. We’ve been drinking it for years and they have a cool tap room.

Yep. Never heard of it before. Went to Iowa taproom one time for dinner, and searched for something west-0 to order last week.

As an Eastern Iowa guy, I’d never even heard of West O before Ames Lager. And I drink a lot of craft beers

If anyone finds it in council bluffs, please post so us in Omaha area can make a trip. It won't be in Omaha until later this year per west O.
I was told today at a hyvee in council bluffs that they aren't getting it until next week. Wtf Blum? You said it would be statewide today! Lol

100%. This is what, maybe a top 10 popular brewery in the state if that. I’d say definitely behind TG, Exile, Confluence, single speed, peace tree, back pocket, big grove. Probably missing some. I am a fan of full fledged in council bluffs. West O is pretty much popular for their coco stout and that’s it. To have a new beer come out and fly off the shelves has to be huge for their business.

See this is so contradictory to what I was told by one of the managers at Happy's in Cedar Falls. I was told he doesn't get it because they, implicating West O, doesn't send their stuff to him anymore. He said mass public outcry to the brewery itself would be the fastest way to get them to send their product there.

I am convinced at this point that I will never truly understand the process, but Ames Lager showed up in my town today, so all is well
