Agree that they should have gone with non-blue fisting Cy as secondary over sex offender Cy. I don't know if I have ever owned any ISU gear with that logo, or really ever seen it except for the cheap crap they sell at Hy-Vee. Never owned any bugle apparel either, nor will I.That logo was originally a secondary during the "Blue Period." It was essentially the primary bird-in-a-blender logo with the "ISU" removed to only leave Cy fisting his way out of a tornado.

When the I-State become the primary, this logo was recolored to remove the blue and set to be the "main" secondary logo. I really wish they would have kept this one as the main secondary.

I wonder what that would look like if you took out the darker shade of cardinal and made it black instead of darker red. I would imagine something like that would be a Campbell favorite.
Instead, we ended up with Sex Offender Cy, who nobody seems to like.

Or worse.

That logo isn't an intellectual property of Jack Trice. It's simply the logo the school wore at the time he played.
The more it's used, the better, IMO. It keeps his story and legacy front of mind, and pays homage to a critical piece of ISU history.
I agree. Lots of ISU players whose names we don't know wore those uniforms. It makes a GREAt secondary logo that links to Trice and to Iowa State history and tradition. It should remain on our uniforms and be promoted as part of ISU's identity.
I feel being against it for some kind of moral squeamishness is odd. 70% of americans drink, and of those that dont drink most arent abstaining for any kind of moral reason (they simply may not like the taste/effects, don't drink for health concerns, or have found they are unable to use in moderation). Treating it as some kind of inherent moral negative that other things shouldn't be associated with is a pretty fringe belief.

And this is why the puking emoji is also a reaction.. That ******* monstrosity should be blended to oblivion and never seen again.
Open letter time!
Today I came across this very cool beer can design:
I'm a bit uneasy to see Jack's tragic legacy on every single piece of merchandise out there, including the traditional "vice" of alcohol. I think the logo would benefit from some guardrails with a clear, tangible benefit that honors his story. IMO it should be a honor to earn - like the patch on the football uniforms. Not something to create revenue.
Because no one asked me, I will share some suggested steps:
1.) ISU licensing should create a THIRD royalty tier (the highest) for the Trice logo.
2.) All (most?) of that revenue should go towards scholarships and community programs that benefit those in need.
3.) Logo should only appear on certain merchandise categories. Sadly this means no DraftKings x Trice collab.
4.) Every merch item should be required to include packaging that shares his story and vision for a better future.
Anyone else agree?
You’re (and everyone’s) hatred should be geared more towards this piece of sh*t that should be fired directly into the god damn sun along with whoever the hell came up with it.**** Iowa

Lots of competition out there for private labelled beer. Just don't see Iowa as a big year round beer market. That logo isn't an intellectual property of Jack Trice. It's simply the logo the school wore at the time he played.

Remember, it's the thought that counts. Apparently you haven't been very vocal about your "dislike" of that thing. (No wonder they were on clearance - ha!)I actually like "sex offender Cy" as you call it. It's more casual(?) than the I-State. It's the gf's fave...
Hard pass on fisting Cy. But to each their own...
Funny story - gf bought me some ISU ceramic coasters one day - two sets because they were on clearance! She was so happy to have done a nice surprise for me.
Bugles. ugh
Major warning sign there, dude. You need a new woman and should kick her to the curb now before it's too late.I actually like "sex offender Cy" as you call it. It's more casual(?) than the I-State. It's the gf's fave...
