Hey, me too! A classmate sitting at the desk behind me once lit my folder on fire under my chair in the middle of his history class. I put it out quickly but he turned around, sniffed a couple of times, turned back around and continued writing on the board. Cool story, me.Head FB coach and history teacher at my high school was arrested for his role in an illegal sports betting and money laundering scheme. Lost the FB coaching position, pretty sure he was suspended the remainder of the school year, and later returned to his teaching duties at the HS and coached girls tennis.
I want to say it was the same guy who a few years later sat on his roof during Homecoming week and waved a gun at kids out TPing when they approached his home

Only when your caught…HS Football coach smoking drugs is wild.
Your employment wasn't based on state defined standards for ethics. The school didn't have any flexibility here. His license will be revoked/suspended by the state and the district can't employ someone who is unlicensedI was arrested for possession of Marijuana (a few times) in my younger days and my boss just laughed at me and called me a dumb ass.
I thought I linked another article that detailed the situation more. They found the smoke on him during a search after he was arrested. Only an idiot would continue pushing the issue with police if they had that on them. What he does for a living obviously makes the situation worse for him. There are just certain things you can't do when you have certain jobs. In my hometown we had a preacher that cheated on his wife. He broke down and admitted it during a Sunday sermon. They finally decided he had to go but I think a majority of the congregation still wanted him.The OP article looked like it omitted these details that make more sense to lead to a firing.
I know. Was just sayin'. My boss was also the person I was buying fromYour employment wasn't based on state defined standards for ethics. The school didn't have any flexibility here. His license will be revoked/suspended by the state and the district can't employ someone who is unlicensed

If that guy did what they say he did, I’d have no problem with him getting tough justice in prison. My son is on the Clarinda team. We will be okay. Rest of staff great.
Nodaway Valley coach arrested yesterday is in much more hot water. https://www.kcrg.com/video/2023/08/17/iowa-high-school-teacher-charged-with-46-counts-sexual-abuse/
Almost got one at Shellebration in Fort Dodge for tripping and faling down twice. Now granted, I was completely smoked. But there were power cords for the stage and the stands inside the pop up tents everywhere hidden in the long grass, some of them under rugs for the stands, on diveted grounds. You can be totally smoked and if you don't act like a moron there won't a ln issue.
I'd guess there was an issue with this guy.
Sounds like you were just living your best life.Almost got one at Shellebration in Fort Dodge for tripping and faling down twice. Now granted, I was completely smoked. Cop told my group one more fall and I'm going downtown. Managed to hang in there with an 0-2 count. Not my finest performance, but sometimes you gotta find to grind one out when you don't have your best stuff.

I 100% believe this man rarely had a care in the worldBoth are true stories.
How many years ago are we talking here? 15 to 20 years ago, a coach would have got away with it with nothing more than a stern talking too and it had better not happen again at most. Last 10 years or so, a coach or teacher would be placed on administrative leave, and would never coach there again more often than not.Lol my 9th grade head football coach racked up his third DUI during the middle of our season, and the only change that happened was he had to ride his bike to work rather than drive.
